1. Would Prospero have been able to forgive everyone if he had not already gotten his revenge on all the people on the island? It is clear that Prospero was able to forgive and step on with all the characters in Shakespeare's last play, The Tempest, because he had already earned the satisfaction of his vengeance. After Prospero had completed multiple acts of revenge on the people on the island, he exclaims that “[Aside to Sebastian and Antonio]/ But you, my brace of lords, /were I so minded,/ I here could pluck his Highness’ frown upon you/ And justify you traitors. At this time/ I will tell no tales” (Shakespeare 5.1.126-130). The only explanation that Prospero can step past his problems with the two men is that his revenge strategy has already been successful. Deep down inside, instead of genuinely forgiving and moving on for his own good, Prospero treated the situation with malicious intent. Forgiveness is when a person takes the time to acknowledge and move on with what happened, not to cause injury and trouble on others to make them feel better about themselves. is revenge morally justified in any circumstance? In Jason Reynolds’ novel, Long Way Down, the main character, Will, struggles to deal with his brothers death, and by the end of the book is reluctant to follow the rules that have been layed out for him; the rule that “If someone you love / gets killed, / find the person / who killed / them and / kill them,”(Reynolds 33). Towards the end of the book, Will begins to become reluctant on carrying out this rule, even stating that “ Confessed / that I was scared, / that I needed / to know I / was doing the right thing.” (Reynolds 295) This exemplifies his reluctance to kill his brother's murderer and break the chain. In Will's mind, he begins to question the morality of the rules that were made, believing them to be morally wrong. So, the question will look like this: In Title of my Novel, by Author's First and Last Name, the concept of revenge and violence are , so what does _____________________universal idea/ question ______________________________? \ in J.K Rowling’s novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter demonstrates how problems can be solved without the use of revenge. In the final battle at Hogwarts, Harry Potter used no dark magic when fighting Voldemort, the person who murdered both his mother and father, but instead fought only with passion and strength fueled by love. He was able to defeat Voldemort and return joyfulness and prosperity to the wizarding world (Rowling 744). Since Voldemort only knows evil and violence, Harry’s kindness was a weapon that allowed him to overpower Voldemort in the long run.
Seven people have been shot and other shootings are mentioned. Many of the past shootings are vividly described. Will thinks about getting a tooth ripped out. Will’s mom picks at/scratches her arms till they bleed. Smell of death is described. Will thinks about drowning, lips being ripped off, and being eaten. All the elevator people are ghosts. “ANOTHER THING ABOUT THE RULES They weren't meant to be broken. They were meant for the broken to follow.” “Shawn's dead. So strange to say. So sad. But I guess not surprising, which I guess is even stranger, and even sadder.”
