CASE STUDY

Alice moved to a new dental clinic, to avoid paying the remaining money for the treatment that was performed. Dr. Anderson is considering not releasing the records until payment is made or releasing the records and noting the bad debt in
the treatment notes to alert the new dentist to Alice's handling of her financial obligations.
Step 2: Ø
Alice Danby has been a patient of Dr. Anderson for some time.

Alice revealed to you, that she was not in favour of an implant as she doesn’t have insurance coverage.

Alice complains because she could see the metal at the base of the bridge where it meets the gum.

Alice signed the consent form for the treatment.

Nonmaleficence: DR. Anderson must respect Alice's privacy regarding her bad debts, as it is not ethical to forward her bad debts and financial information to the new dentist. Dr. Anderson must maintain a professional patient-dentist relation.

Dr. Anderson should release Alice's records to the new dentist as it would be unprofessional not to allow the records to be released.

Alice has the rights to get her chart even if she hasn’t paid her debts.
