Adherence to ethical values is essential for fulfilling commitments to students, the public, and the education profession. This essay aims to provide a thorough examination of ethics, including an analysis of its definition, application in professional responsibility, connection to classroom experiences, and integration with the Florida Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. The essay will also explore the educator's responsibility to students, the rights of students and parents, and how the Saint Leo core value of integrity intersects with ethical obligations. Ethics, as the foundation of moral philosophy, refers to the principles regulating human behavior, distinguishing between right and wrong actions. In the context of education, ethics encompasses the principles and values that guide educators in decision-making processes affecting students, the community, and the education profession. To ensure a comprehensive understanding of ethics, numerous sources will be cited to form a well-rounded definition and explanation. Educators are expected to maintain professional responsibility and ethical behavior, adhering to the Florida Education Profession's Professional Conduct Principles. The analysis and application portion will delve into the concepts of professional responsibility, ethical behavior, and high moral standards, focusing on educators' expected obligations to students, the public, and the educational profession. A

critical study of these values will reveal the dedication required to uphold the integrity of the teaching profession. Ethical Violation Cases To provide practical examples, this essay examines three cases of ethical violations by educators, as reported by the Education Practices Commission of the State of Florida. Carlos Matias Alonso, a Critical Thinking Teacher, submitted fake paperwork claiming progress monitoring meetings with ESOL students during the 2018-2019 school year. This unethical behavior led to a suspension of his educator licensing for two years, a $1,000 fine, and mandatory completion of three hours of college-level Educational Ethics training. Alonso's actions violated the Principles of Professional Conduct, including sections (5a) "Shall maintain honesty in all professional dealings" and (5h) "Shall not submit fraudulent information on any document in connection with professional activities." David B. Hartley, a Business Teacher, accessed inappropriate internet media in front of students, made inappropriate comments about students' bodies, and touched three female eighth-grade students during the 2014-2015 school year. Hartley permanently surrendered his teaching certificate, acknowledging his actions were free and voluntary. His actions violated several sections of the Principles of Professional Conduct, including (3e) not exposing a student to unwarranted humiliation or disparagement, (3a) making reasonable efforts to protect the student from harmful conditions, and (5d) not engaging in harassment or discriminatory behavior. Andreaka Nicole Mathis, a Language Arts teacher, fraudulently used another person's credit card to make payments on her phone bill. Although her incident occurred outside the school, it violated the Code of Ethics, particularly section three, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the highest

degree of ethical conduct. Mathis initially had her Florida educator certificate denied but was later given a second chance through a letter of reprimand and two years of employment probation. Obligation to Students, the Public, and the Education Profession The Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida declares, first and foremost, that I commit to students. This commitment specifies that I must do all in my ability to safeguard pupils from situations that appear to be detrimental to their learning, mental, or physical health and safety. As an aspiring teacher, I must uphold the commitment to not limit a student's ability to make their own decisions and to not deny them their point of view, but to encourage it. Following these standards, I will not deprive students of information critical to their academic performance, will not embarrass any student, and will ensure that every student is safeguarded from all forms of discrimination and harassment. As an aspiring teacher, misuse or manipulate a relationship with any student for personal gain or advantage and be very confidential with information obtained in my professional environment(s). Obligation to the Public Obligation to the public, according to the Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida, aspiring and current educators, including myself, commit to the public. These obligations include taking reasonable steps to distinguish between personal views and opinions regarding an educational institution with which that public citizen interacts. I must be accountable to the requirement that state educators should not alter or mislead educational facts in public and should not utilize institutional licensing for personal gain. I will not take any favor or gift that may influence professional judgment or provide special advantages. Obligation to the Education Profession

In my educational profession, I am required to be honest in all professional dealings and to deny any coworker perks or participation rights in any professional group. I should be careful not to interfere with any colleague's political business or to harass any colleague with discriminating remarks that would jeopardize their professional performance. Making hostile or misleading remarks on any colleague, using coercion, presenting deceptive material in relation to professional activities, and withholding information about a job to enhance one's career are all against the teacher's code of conduct and can result in Disciplinary actions. I will offer statements proving that any credentialed individual is unsuited for the teaching profession, as well as self-report any arrests involving criminal activities. It is my responsibility to notify the relevant authorities about any alleged violation of the Florida School Code or State Board of Education Rules. It is also my job as an upcoming teacher to obey the conditions of an order of education practices, as stated in The Principles of Professional Conduct of The Education Profession in Florida. Ethics in The Classroom In my future classroom, ethics will be a highly crucial component and attribute among my pupils and anybody who enters my classroom. Ensure that each youngster is respected by both classmates. As a teacher, I will be adamant about instilling ideals and concepts that colleagues, students, parents, and guardians can follow. Ethics in the classroom is crucial because I believe it raises students' awareness of ethical rules and the need to adhere to them. Giving every student an equal learning opportunity, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or any other socioeconomic factor, would be my priority in the classroom. I have witnessed students with slight to major learning problems being disregarded by teachers while the "smart bunch" receives all the attention; One of my primary responsibilities will be to ensure each student's mental, emotional, social, and intellectual advancement and development. Colleagues and parents will be able to observe ethical behavior in my classroom. Respecting and

sustaining the trust of every colleague, student, parent, and any partner of the education system will be obvious in my classroom. I will not accept this. Core Values Saint Leo University, as an institution committed to values and principles, presented us students and lecturers with 'core values' to follow. The key values are excellence, community, respect, personal development, responsible stewardship, and integrity. Integrity is a key value in the Code of Ethics. Integrity is a personal attribute, and one should strive for it in all professions, but especially in teaching. Integrity entails being honest and respectful of oneself first, then of your students, colleagues, and parents/guardians. According to the Code of Ethics for Teachers, we must be whole people both within and outside of the classroom. According to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida, "The educator will therefore strive for professional growth and will seek to exercise the best professional judgment and integrity (The Code of Ethics of The Education Profession in Florida (2))." Integrity is required to recognize every person's worth and dignity, seek the highest professional judgment, and ensure that each student is nurtured and made better despite diversity. Conclusion As an aspiring teacher, I have researched the ethical norms required to practice my profession in Florida. These norms and principles are important not only to me as a teacher but also to my students, colleagues, parents, and guardians. The education community is critical to our society's growth and advancement, and in order to maintain its integrity, all ethical codes of conduct must be observed and followed. Teachers have a duty not only to their students or classrooms but also to the public, which includes the students' parents/guardians and colleagues in the education field. With my passion for being the best teacher I can be, and every ethical code and principle of conduct, I intend to be integral in honoring every rule so that I can contribute to producing moral students who will

later become moral citizens. Following the Florida Education Professionals' Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct is critical for educators. The essay highlighted ethical violation cases to underscore the importance of integrity and ethical behavior in the education profession. Educators have responsibilities to students, the public, and their profession, and maintaining integrity is essential for fulfilling these commitments. By analyzing the Saint Leo University Core Value of Integrity, the essay emphasized the harmonization of personal values with professional conduct, ensuring success in carrying out the ethical responsibilities of a professional educator.
