Philosophical Inventory Assignment After completing the Philosophical Inventory Survey my highest score was Progressivism. After reading the text I do agree with the definition and clarification regarding Progressivism. Now for the other Philosophies I scored, 17 for Progressivism, 16 for Perennialism, 16 for Essentialism, and 14 for Romanticism.
I believe that the score is accurate according to my beliefs about education, teaching and students. I say this because progressivism focusing more on the individual at hand interest in the subject, while still presenting the subject versus some teaching where is just all about the subject and the facts around it. I like the saying “Consequently knowledge must continually be redefined
and rediscovered to keep up with the change. Since I am in part of the Gen Z change is something that is apart of my time. We have some many things we must keep up with because of
how it just evolves.
I believe that my beliefs about teaching will play an important part in influencing my teaching. I say this because I was born in a time right before technology came into to play so I kind of got the best of both worlds when it came to learning in the traditional and modern way. Truly they both work and would work even better together. I also believe people don’t know how to balance their personal lives and they let if reflect in their teaching skills.
I believe the role of a teacher is to not give away answers, I believe teachers are experienced guides; who are supposed to guide their students to the same knowledge they may have also learned. When I say experienced, I mean exactly being able to guide each student individually for success.
