The Basic Schools of Philosophy's General Thought:
Pragmatism emphasizes the practical effects of ideas and actions. It implies that the
usefulness of truth in solving issues and achieving desired objectives determines its
meaning.
Positivism claims that knowledge is gained by empirical observation and
experimentation. It emphasizes the value of verifiable evidence while dismissing
speculation and metaphysical assertions.
Realism states that reality exists apart from our thoughts and senses. It implies that the
universe has an objective nature that can be investigated and comprehended using
logic and experience.
Pragmatism is likely the best connected with day-to-day decision-making of the three
fundamental schools of philosophy. Its emphasis on practical implications and
problem-solving connects with the decisions we make on a daily basis in various facets
of our lives. (“Pragmatism | Definition, History, & Examples | Britannica,” 2023)
