State Name To ( Name of the Elected Official ) Dear Sir/Madam… Ref: Policy on Trauma-Informed Care I humbly request that you consider pushing the policy initiative on the above subject. Trauma is a major encounter in every aspect of our daily lives, affecting people of all ages, from childhood to adulthood. As a DNP-prepared nurse, the policy's success will be crucial in addressing health equity and ensuring positive health outcomes for the general patient population. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2021), the US economic expenditure on injuries was approximately $4.2 Trillion, half of which is spent among working-aged adults. This issue is of concern as it significantly contributes to reduced productivity due to lost working hours and increases healthcare expenditure, impacting the affected persons, the entire healthcare system, and the government. Unintentional injuries, road traffic accidents, and falls account for the ten leading causes of premature deaths among people of all age groups and contributed to approximately 27 million emergency department visits in 2019 (CDC, 2021). People involved in fatal road traffic accidents and falls are more likely to incur sudden deaths and multiple injuries, including head injuries, fractures, and permanent disabilities, thus adversely impacting their quality of life and therefore subject to frequent hospital visits, increased readmission rates, and prolonged hospital stays which attracts high care costs and financial constraints among the victims ( Silver et al., 2021 ).
The provided data indicates the need to pass the trauma-informed care policy to ensure all trauma victims seek timely healthcare services. The move will greatly reduce disease-associated mortalities and comorbidities and positively improve the quality of life for the affected persons, thus reducing the associated healthcare expenditure and economic ramifications ( Silver et al., 2021 ). The success will also ensure improved healthcare access to the less advantaged population, thus positively improving the general society's well-being. Your consideration will be highly appreciated. Yours Sincerely Name & Signature
