Essay on Japanese New Year Japanese New Year Introduction: In Japan one of the most celebrated festivals is New Years. The Japanese New Year, or Oshogatsu (‚¨³ŒŽ), is given more preparation than any other festival. There are many traditions and activities that happen at this time. Oshogatsu is a time to visit temples, forget the troubles of the past year, and wish for good fortune in the new. Many festivals around this time also reflect the values and ideals of New Years. History: During the time of the Empress Suiko (593–628), Japan was influenced greatly by the religion and beliefs of China. In A.D. 604 Japan officially adopted the Chinese calendar. gThe new calendar was a lunar– solar one that has its months based on the lunar cycle. ...show more content... Oshogatsu has many important religious aspects. On Jan. 1 at 12:00 a.m., temple bells will ring 108 times. The number 108 comes from a Buddhist idea that man has 108 cares. It is believed that at the end of the bells the evil spirits will be forced away for the upcoming year. Oshogatsu means gstandard monthh, this means that the rest of the year will be based on how the first month goes. Casal mentions new years also as Gansan, gthe three beginningsh, of a new day, a new month and a new year. (1). On the first day of the New Year everything will be clean. This means that much time is spent before this day to have the house clean. This is a Shinto belief that the inside should always be clean while leaving dirt and contamination outside. This goes for the home as well as the body. During the day most Japanese people will go to visit their local temples. Around Tokyo and Kyoto this means that many people will gather together at the temples. ‚Tyen coins are thrown in a certain spot at the temple. In Japanese 5 yen (ŒÜ‰~) is read, ggoenh if you read the kanji for fortune or good luck, it is also ggoenh(‚²‰). So people throw ggoenh coins so that they will have luck in the New Year. Once at the temple you will also collect an omikuji, or a type of oracle. This will tell you that you will have good luck. If you happen to receive an unlucky omikuji, then Get more content on StudyHub.Vip
Setting Realistic Resolutions/Goals for the New Year As the New Year approaches, many of us are starting to list down all of our resolutions. The start of the new year is the perfect time to clean the slate and start afresh. This is great opportunity to eradicate the bad habits and form new routines that will help you grow into a much better person. Mental preparation is needed since you're actually taking a process of change that can affect you psychologically, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Always remember that all positive changes can improve your everyday life. Resolutions are much easier to make than to keep. Some last until end of January and then settling back to their old patterns. Here are some steps ...show more content... Believe in yourself Always stay positive about your progress. Always bear in my mind that you are doing this for yourself and no one else. If you're unable to stick to your resolution , you don't need to wait until January, either start again from where you are or set a more achievable objective than before. Don't let small setbacks lose your focus Experiencing few setbacks is common but don't make it as an excuse to stop. Always remember that we are all humans and making mistakes is already part of our nature. It doesn't do any good in getting depressed or stressed out over failures. The best thing we can do is to look into it as opportunities for learning. Perseverance is the key in overcoming failures and strengthening your resolution. Avoid repeating past failures Another strategy that could keep your goals intact is trying not to make the same resolution year after year. If you do choose to reach for the same goal as before, try to evaluate things like why it was unattainable before and what is different in you now to perceive the possibility that you can do it this time. Layout plans and strategies that are proven effective and change your approach in overcoming unforeseen obstacles. Get support from family and friends You may have probably heard this a million times but having someone to support you in reaching your goals can definitely help you to stay on track. Having a solid support Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Weight Loss Plan For A New Year 's Resolution I was determined to keep searching for more ways to lose weight! For some unknown reason, I started soul searching, trying to figure out where I was going wrong with New Year's resolutions. I was trying to figure out why it was so hard for me to stick to my New Year's resolutions, until the end of the year. Out of all the things that I couldn't stay committed to during a New Year's resolution, I didn't care about them, like I cared about sticking to a resolution to lose weight. I began to closely analyze all the possible reasons why I failed at whatever traditional weight loss plan, I tried in the past. I also had to analyze why I wasn't able to consistently keep the weight off, without strict dieting . I hated how strict dieting made me feel! I couldn't help but believe that, there had to be a way for me to lose weight and keep it off––without punishing myself with strict dieting. I knew that if I was going to lose weight and keep it off, that I had to use healthier weight loss strategies other than the ones that I'd used in the past. I also knew that, in order for me to have continued success, that my resolution had to consist of me losing weight, without ever making a New Year's resolution. I decided to start with not eating any fried foods. I felt like this was the best choice. I learned that fried foods were not only unhealthy for my waistline, but also increases the risk of heart failure and other chronic conditions. I also didn't eat any Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

New Graduate Nurses Essay Transitioning from nursing school to working in a hospital setting can be a challenging time for a new graduate. Due to the nursing shortage, new graduate nurses are being hired with little to no experience. This is overwhelming for new nurses, especially when they are not getting adequate support or training from the hospital. The amount of stress, pressure, and lack of training is leading to a high turnover rate for new graduate nurses. With patient acuity on the rise, new graduate nurses that are filling these vacancies in the hospitals, need to be competent nurses to provide proper and safe care to the patients. This article researched the competency of new graduate nurses. "Nursing competence is not only a professional standard ...show more content... Communication includes verbal and written, as well as the ability to document data. One of the most difficult transitions, and a main stress factor, is the new graduates' ability to communicate with the physicians. Having the ability to be a leader is a key to success. "To be an effective leader, a nurse must show collaborative teamwork, which is consistent with AACN core competencies. To fulfill this competency, new graduates must be able to delegate to others to promote patient safety and health" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Conflict resolution with team members and patients was a noted as a skill that new graduates lacked. "Several new graduates expressed concern that they were unprepared to deal with conflict appropriately and professionally" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Due to the lack of experience, new graduates are unfamiliar with the proper ways to deal with conflict successfully. Mentorship has been an effective way in improving new graduates confidence in dealing with conflict, because they were guided through real situations. Organization, prioritization, and time management was another identified problem. The ability to prioritize patient care, which has a direct effect on patient safety, is a critical component of nursing. "Both new graduates and employers have Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Normally, just like any other festivals, preparations are normally the starters of Chinese New Year. First, the families will clean their home thoroughly. This is not only to welcome the guests to come during Chinese New Year , but also the Chinese's belief that this can 'sweep away the misfortune' from one's family, prepared for good luck to enter the house again. However, it is a bad thing to sweep the floor during Chinese New Year itself, because it is believed that this way, the family will 'sweep ' away all its good luck during the festival. Moreover, red decorations will be put up as well as 'red' ...show more content... Year End Reflection Essay Year End Reflection 2016 When I think of grade 8, I think of all the sports I play and how much I developed as a student athlete from the beginning of the year to now. Why sports comes to mind when I think of grade 8 is because this would be the year where I'm transitioning from grade 8 to high school , which means I will have to start taking sports more seriously, because in high school sports, for example, in football you have to be really good, and you can't depend on being a "good athlete' because when you get to the next level of playing football (high school) everyone is a good athlete, and you start to realize that being athletic will only take you so far. My main sport that I play is football. I started playing football when I was 11, when I started I was pretty good. I was playing at a position lots of players wanted to play, linebacker, and I didn't really take it to my advantage because I know anything about football, but as that season went on I started getting better at my position, but the following year, I was played at a different position because the kids we were playing with were a year older than me, that's when I realized if I wanted to be a good player, I had to try, and that is when I really started developing in football, the ...show more content... Compare And Contrast Christmas And The New Year December According to the English wit, writer and Anglican cleric, Sydney Smith once said, "Resolve to make at least one person happy every day, and then in ten years you may have made three thousand, six hundred and fifty persons happy, or brightened a small town by your contribution to the fund of general enjoyment." It is time to slow down, to take a deep breath, to look at snowflakes dancing outside the window and at flames of votive candles on the decorated mantelpiece and be prepared for fireworks. Christmas and the New Year , two beloved traditional holidays, concerning the gifts and memories they provide to thousands every year, and yet starkly contrast one another in their worldwide appreciation. Both holidays represent the union of family, charity, and gratitude. Upon reaching adulthood, children tend to leave the comfort and security of their parents' home in order to establish their own lives; however, they always return home during Christmas and the New Year to spend time with their families. Despite their similarities in the union of family, are completely different. The two most common holidays in the whole world Christmas and the New Year are different to each other. The Chinese New Year Essay Chinese New Year is the most widely celebrated tradition in Asia. The tradition is usually celebrated on the first day of the first month on the Chinese Lunar calendar. This tradition is rooted in centuries–old customs and is one of the most popular public holidays in China. Apart from China, this tradition is also celebrated in many Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan. There are many values and rituals tied with this tradition. For example, people would wear red clothing, decorate the house with red paper, and give children "lucky money" in red envelopes. According to legend, it is said that red can drive away bad luck, which is why the color red is highly emphasized. In myths, our ancestors would ...show more content... According a popular myth, the origin of this day lies in the fight against Nian, a beast in Chinese mythology. The beast would visit cities and eat cattle, crops, and even people. In order for families to protect themselves from the beast, they would place food at their doorsteps so that the beast would not harm them. One day during a family dinner, the family noticed how the beast was startled by seeing the color red. Word of this spread to other friends and family. Soon, from then on, on the first day of every New Year, people would hang red paper lanterns and other red objects to scare off the beast. They would also light bamboo stalks in order to scare the beast away. After some time, the beast stop coming to the city all together. However, by this time relatives and family had already adopted the habit of getting together to protect each other from the beast. Looking back at ancient civilization, fireworks, elaborate performances, or decorations had not been invented or developed. These rituals that are associated with the tradition today were added throughout the years. It was because of time that people started incorporating ideas that were added on along with the festival. My New Year Resolution Essay In January people often make New Year's resolutions. They think of things that they want to change or make better and, promise themselves that in the next year they will accomplish it. Let's be real though, how many people really do succeed? Probably not so many. But of course I made a few, and this year I am really determined to full fill in at least one of them. This year in 2018 I plan to get in better shape, learn a new language and, earn some money. If you made a New Year's resolution too, remember that's it's okay to fail, just try your best! My first New Year's resolution is to get in better shape is by exercising and, going to the gym more. That way I can build muscle strength and burn of what I eat or, what I'm going to eat during ...show more content... Exercising will help me fall asleep faster. I sometimes struggle to fall asleep and, exercising can really help with that. Also it will make me more motivated to do things and, less lazy. Getting in better shape will also make me look better, which will lead into me becoming more confident. Lastly, since it involves eating healthy, I won't get sick so easily. My second New Year's resolution is, to learn a new language. More specifically French, German and, maybe Russian. Whenever I go on holiday I usually make foreign friends. Most of the time those friends are Russian, which makes it very difficult to even try to communicate with them. This is the only reason why, I would want to learn Russian. Personally, I find other language like German and, French more interesting to learn. But if it's for easier communication with holiday friends, then I am down to learn the language. I extremely want to learn German and, French! I honestly want to learn those two language a million times more than any other languages in the world. I would incredibly enjoy learning French because, generally I just find the language very fancy. I bet you kind of do too! Also, probably one of my favourite and, Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

My Resolution For New Year Every year my family and I count down to the new year, this year I am came up with a resolution that I can keep with myself for a long time and use it until I am out of school all the way up to collage. New Year has always seemed to be a fresh start of a new cycle, this year I hope my resolution shall be one of the best one! My new year's resolution for 2018 is to do better in school and to think outside the box when it comes to schoolwork. This has been something that I have been trying to reach since Middle school and I am still trying even harder to do my very best in school now. There is also still some improvements that I need to make in school, like if I do bad on a test I know for next time to study real good for that subject. However, I am going to start off this year the right way by not only setting my goal, but also making sure I achieve each and every one of them. This year I aim to focus on getting remarkable grades and staying focused in school no matter how boring and long it is. I plan to do better in school than I did in 2017. Just some things I have to stay on top of is studying and doing well on my homework no matter how long it takes. When I take tests I have to be careful and pick the best possible answer, again that's where the studying should pay off. If I am able to do everything I said then I should be sure to achieve my New Year's goal! This resolution will make me more focused and be ready for tests and homework that my teachers throw at me. If I make this change now then I will not have to worry about it in the future and I will be more on track and in good shape. Change is 100% needed in this area because I should be performing at my highest capability. Homework so far this year in most of my subjects is difficult and sometimes confusing. I am trying to get good grades in my subjects and so far I am not doing too bad but I need to do work beyond my ability. If I am having trouble my first instinct is to wait and go ask the teacher the next day, but I fell like now I should at least try my best and or ask family members for help. School is a #1 priority in my family and it can pretty much decide where you go. You could go to a great collage and have an amazing high paying job or Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

A new school year means new students and new opportunities. New opportunities to learn. New opportunities for both teachers and students to grow. New opportunities to improve the learning for all students. One thing that teachers must improve on is shifting from teacher–centered to learner– centered. Barry Beers (2006) believes "learner–centered environments pay close attention to the knowledge , skills, attitudes, and beliefs that learners bring to the educational setting" (p. 43). Teachers play an integral role in the lives of their students, therefore if we are to impact students we must influence their learning . In my RAD Instructional Plan, I focused on student learning through the creation of resumes and work–related documents. In ...show more content... The second difference I faced was the novelty that was supposed to be provided my classroom set up. My classroom was a mess due to summer cleaning. Although the desks were set up for the interviews, the WOW factor was not there. When implementing the RAD plan, novelty is an important step in gaining student interest. Luckily, the mock interviews provided students with a fun activity to be engaged in. Students were less focused on my room set up and were more interested in the task. The feedback I received on my RAD plan help me to make the appropriate choices concerning my students. The main feedback I received addressed students who require differentiated lessons. In order to make this lesson more versatile for all students, I added accommodations that would help students. For example, I decided that the class would read in small groups to assist students with 504 plans. I also created a vocabulary list and resume template for students with Limited English Proficiency and learning disabilities. Without the feedback I received I would not have been able to teach students who needed differentiation. My plan for assessment was also improved based on feedback. Using feedback, I was able to determine which type of assessments would provide the best data to drive the learning. I reviewed my standards and assignments to make sure they were aligned. I was able to improve my Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

10 New Year Resolutions for High School Students 10 New Year Resolutions for High School Students The New Year is a great time to reflect on the changes we want to or need to make. If you're a student looking at ways to improve yourself and make the transition to college easier, International College Counselors offers a few more resolutions you might want to add to your list. 1. Stop procrastinating. How often have you underestimated how much time it will take to get something done? Then, how sad are you when you don't have the time to do your best. The New Year Essay The New Year is upon us once again, ready or not. This holiday seems to me the one that provokes the most thought and reflection, which is a good thing really. We all need to assess where we are in our journey of life and make adjustments. For the Christian, this is especially important. Ephesians 5:1–2 reminds us to "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love , just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." The past year has been a great learning year for me in the area of relationships. I 've learned a lot about myself, others, and especially about how much God loves ME! Some of what I learned was very disappointing as I saw so much selfishness in relationships. I know that I am guilty of it too sometimes, but I just recognized it more, and saw the repercussions many times. Those consequences are painful and the effects are trickle–down. It has made me really think about Love a lot more and how Love as God intended it to be should be evident in our lives ALWAYS, and not just when it 's convenient for us. God spoke to me about His Love through my dog, Tracker. Yep, this is the Tracker story that I 've been meaning to put out there. This isn 't exactly how I thought I 'd convey it to everyone but as time has passed and I think about it even more, I know without a doubt that the truth that God impressed upon me that night is what is most important about the story. Tracker is an Get more content on StudyHub.Vip

Chen Xun 's New Year 's Sacrifice Lu Xun's New Year's Sacrifice (1924) begins with the narrator returning to their hometown for New Year after several years. The narrator can be said to symbolise the dilemma of an intellectual hoping for social reform but feeling helpless when it comes to helping women.
