2 Transcultural Nursing What Transcultural Nursing Means to me Fundamentally, I view transcultural nursing as a study of how cultural characteristics that define a given group of individuals affect their health and general well-being. Thus, I see it as a form of nursing that equips practitioners with the right skills for promoting and ensuring that culturally-centered care is attained in their practice. Conversely, given the dynamics that exist in various cultures in society, transcultural nursing is both in periodic evolution and complex. Reasons for Choosing the Course The desire to pursue a transcultural nursing course is motivated by a series of factors, with the key one being the need to attain cultural competency in my nursing practice. Through globalization, nurses today have to attend to patients from diverse cultures (Tosun et al., 2021). Consequently, cultural competency is elemental in ensuring that optimal care levels are realized in healthcare services. Further, such a desire is motivated by the need to attain key skills that can allow me to work in diverse cultural settings. What I aim to learn in the next 8 weeks In the next 8 weeks, I am looking forward to learning about the various cultures across the globe and how to incorporate them into my nursing practice. Moreover, I am aiming to learn the various ways in which culture influences care and individuals’ well-being. Thus, my primary objective is to learn the key cultural beliefs and practices that impact care among various groups in society (Ludwig-Beymer, 2022). Moreover, I aim to attain key culturally appropriate communication skills, which will make it easy to interact with people from diverse cultural settings. How the Course will help me in my Nursing Practice

3 This course is elemental to my nursing practice since it will equip me with knowledge on how cultural beliefs and practices affect individuals’ health and wellbeing. Moreover, I will acquire knowledge on the right resources that need to be put in place for nurses administering care services to people from diverse groups (Ludwig-Beymer, 2022). Further, I will gain a better understanding of how cultural characteristics in society fuel health care disparities among people. I will also attain the cultural competency skills needed to excel in my nursing practice.
