No more than one paragraph: Define testicular torsion in medical terms. The spermatic cord supports the testes in the scrotum. Testicular torsion occurs when the spermatic cord is twisted. This causes the blood supply to be cut off to the testicles and nearby tissue in the scrotum.
Describe the risk factors of testicular torsion. There are a lot of risks associated with testicular torsion. These include: age, genetics, exercise, previous testicular torsion, trauma, and climate. Answer these questions: What are signs and symptoms of testicular torsion (list 2)? Two symptoms of testicular torsion are swelling of the scrotum and abnormal
changes to the color of the scrotum, in particular redness or darkening.
What methods can lead to the diagnosis of testicular torsion (list 2)?
A diagnosis for testicular torsion is usually based off of a visual inspection and the symptoms the patient is exhibiting. This is then usually confirmed with an ultrasound of the testicles. What is the optimal window of Diagnosis (Dx) and Treatment (Tx)?
The optical window of Diagnosis and treatment for testicular torsion is six hours from the onset of pain. If the blood flow is not restored soon enough, it can lead to the need for removal.
