Mainous’ study is primarily to show the trends for people who are at high risk of cardiovascular disease and its prevalence in the United States. This data also helped to show that a significant amount of people in the United States are at a high risk of cardiovascular disease. Mainous also details through the data taken that in certain people groups, cardiovascular disease occurs at a higher
rate .
8. Summarize in a paragraph of your own words what Mainous recommends primary care researchers do when publishing future scientific studies to overcome science denial and claims of “fake news”.
Mainous states that by using various risk scores, such as the Framingham Risk Score, you are able to better determine an individual’s likelihood of experiencing some type of cardiac even in the next ten years. He also states that public health campaigns should target preventative measures such as lifestyle monitoring and blood pressure control, in addition to increased early detection to help prevent cardiovascular disease.
