Read the two versions of the Hippocratic Oath.
Then, answer the following questions.
What aspects of the classic version of the oath no longer appear in the modern version?
The classic version of the oath swears on Apollo Physician, Asclepius, Hygieia, Panaceia, and all
the Greek gods and goddesses to uphold the oath, which is something I observed was missing
from the modern version. Although swearing was not mentioned in the current edition, they do
pledge to uphold the covenant to the best of their abilities. Another intriguing difference I
discovered was that while euthanasia and abortion are prohibited in the traditional text, they are
not addressed in the contemporary one. In contrast to the present form, the classic version
mentions not causing trouble and forbidding sexual interactions on the field.
What similarities exist between the classic and modern versions of the oath?
Both the traditional and contemporary versions of the oath, in my opinion, would assist and benefit those
who were ill without going too far or acting unfairly toward others. This is one of the parallels I noticed
between them. Both promise to protect the patient's privacy and keep any information they have about
them private or revealed. Finally, it was mentioned in all versions that living by the rules would guarantee
a happy life spent assisting those in need.
Is the Hippocratic Oath relevant to medical ethics today?
Why or why not?
The Hippocratic Oath is still relevant to medical ethics today, in my opinion, because it is
regarded as "timeless" in terms of ethics and values (Anonymous, 2018). Although it has
undoubtedly evolved throughout the years, it still retains the original qualities that are now
required in modern, advanced treatment. Every time they alter it, they do so to keep it current
with medical advancements and to ensure that it ethically adheres to the situation at the time.

How do the principles and professional responsibilities listed in the charter seek to address the
concepts presented in the Hippocratic Oath?
The Hippocratic Oath's themes are addressed in the charter's guiding principles and professional
obligations to better understand or clarify the oath. To prevent any misconceptions, it is clearer
and more descriptive. They would have this because of how wordy the Hippocratic Oath might
be and how it might result in some misunderstandings about the oath.
Although the article discusses a physician charter, in what ways could such a charter
influence your potential career?
The charter may have an impact on my future job as a medical professional or as a student of
kinesiology. I would need a solid policy to go by in those respects both patients and my career,
as well as my capacity to work with them. I firmly feel that taking the oath and abiding by the
laws would be in the best interests of both the client I am assisting and myself as a person
working in my area.
Examine one other posted code of ethics and explain the importance of that code to members
of that profession.
The College of Kinesiologists of Ontario's code of ethics is crucial for making the proper moral
decisions for patients or clients in professional practice because it establishes a set of guidelines
that everyone must abide by to prevent an unethical atmosphere. The code's final section covered
the processes of ethical decision-making, which are crucial in some scenarios one can encounter
while working. Five steps or points were developed in the decision-making process: respect,
autonomy, collaboration honesty and communication. I believe the five ideas I gave regarding how
to be ethical in a career and the code of ethics are extremely fantastic to follow. I believe that the
five guidelines I provided are extremely good guidelines to abide by while attempting to practice
ethics in a profession, and the code of ethics aids in defining the limits we must maintain with
patients and clients.
