The topic resource and readings have reviewed the reasons and importance of using online GCU Library resources in your research. Using examples from the Course Materials, explain why it is important to use scholarly, peer reviewed resources retrieved from the online GCU Library vs. a general Internet search. In those instances where you need to do a search on the Internet, what guidelines should you follow? Why?
Class, It is important to use peer reviewed resources from the online GCU library because they have been reviewed by a panel of experts in the specific field that is being researched. They look over all the information before it is published to ensure accuracy and relevancy. Using the library, you know that it is the most reliable place to do your research. Using the general Internet for research can be a great tool, if the information is accurate. You must use caution doing research on the Internet. You need to evaluate the websites and authors; verification is key when using a web-based source for information. Some guidelines to follow when doing research on the
Internet are: Start by using sources that you know are credible. Pay attention to the creation date to ensure that the information is not outdated, ensure that the information is unbiased or free of opinion, it should merely state the facts, and search for the authors name and credentials in the field of study you are researching (Grand Canyon University, 2013).
There is nothing wrong with using the Internet for research, it just needs to be credible and accurate. The reason you need to take these steps when doing research on the Internet is because there are thousands of websites that will show up on a search engine. You need to ensure
the website you go to is accurate and unbiased. Anyone can put whatever they want on the Internet. Some people intentionally put inaccurate information purposely. Whichever way you choose to do your research, just make sure it is credible. You can’t go wrong with the library.

Review the reading strategies on pages 70-73 in the textbook. Apply one of the reading strategies towards one of the peer-reviewed articles you chose in the Topic 1 Brainstorming
Worksheet. After reading your article, select a sentence that supports your essay topic. Format this sentence into a direct quote and include an in-text citation. Then, paraphrase the quote and include an in-text citation. In addition, include a reference citation at the end of your response.

Exercise and its effects on obesity
Direct Quote:
"Guidelines suggest that there are no added health benefits of high-intensity exercise other than the shorter time frame needed to expend the appropriate amount of energy” (Ross, Hudson, Stotz, & Miu, 2015, p. 325).
Paraphrase:
Exercise is beneficial for one’s health regardless of intensity levels (Ross, Hudson, Stotz, & Miu, 2015).
