The disease that is affecting the residents of Gotham City is coronavirus. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is communicable disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people infected with the virus will encounter mild to moderate respiratory illness and recuperate without special treatment. Despite that, some will become critically ill and require medical care. Older adults and
those with underlying medical conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop acute illness. Anyone can get sick with coronavirus and become seriously ill or die at any age.
How does the disease spread?
Coronavirus is spread when an infected person exhales droplets and microscopic particles that carry the virus. Other people can inhale these droplets and particles or land on their eyes, nose, or
mouth. In some circumstances, these droplets may contaminate surfaces they touch. Anyone infected with COVID-19 can spread it, even if they do NOT have symptoms.
Symptoms of COVID-19
• fever
• cough
• tiredness
• loss of taste or smell.
• headache
sore throat
diarrhea
aches and pains
• red or irritated eyes.
Ways to prevent COVID-19
• Get vaccinated when a vaccine is available to you.
• Stay 1 meter apart from others, even if they don’t appear ill.
• Wear a suitable mask when physical distancing is impossible or in poorly ventilated environments.
• pick open, well-ventilated spaces instead of closed ones. Open a window if indoors.
• Wash your hands constantly with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
• If you feel ill, stay home and self-isolate until you recover.
Some Socioeconomic details affecting people by the outbreak of COVID-19 include depression, anxiety, stress disorder, social distancing, self-isolation, reduced workforce, and many jobs lost.
Plan of action
Manpower:
Since the outbreak, the residents of Gotham have quit in large numbers. Companies here need help finding workers. Wages are rising at an annual average of about 5%. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the workplace remains in a state of severe disruption. The economy has 4 million additional jobs than workers to fill them. The financial indigence caused by COVID-19 in the U.S. is endured chiefly by low-income families like residents of Gotham City. Since the COVID outbreak, the median income of lower-income households decreased. At the same time,
about half of lower-income adult said they or someone in their family had experienced wage or job loss since the coronavirus outbreak began. (Kochhar, 2022)
Money:
Since the coronavirus outbreak, low-income families have been affected much more by spiking unemployment, job insecurity, and increased housing instability. The resident of Gotham
City has been unable to work due to job scarcity, and they are experiencing a higher rate of hardship. Even before the coronavirus outbreak, the people of Gotham City lived near or below the federal poverty line. They had historically high rates of food insufficiency and worse academic achievement than higher-income families.
Medicine:
Medicaid provides coverage for some low-income families, children, older adults, pregnant people, and people with disabilities. In some states, the Medicaid program is expanded to cover all adults beneath a certain income level. By federal law, nonprofit hospitals must offer financial assistance to those who cannot pay their medical bills.
Conclusion:
The action plan is to recognize the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 to know whether you are at high risk of getting sick from the disease. People more likely to get sick include older people with certain medical conditions such as heart disease, chronic lung disease, or weakened immune systems. People must also try not to go to crowded places, and if you have any symptoms, test immediately. First, many low-income workers are employed in necessary services during the pandemic (such as delivery services and grocery stores) or jobs with minimal remote work alternatives. Secondly, poorer neighborhoods are likely to have denser populations, more conducive to contagion. Due to the hardship of the residents of Gotham City, people need assistance with food, shelter, and medical. Since the outbreak, people have lost their jobs and can’t afford to fulfill their essential needs.
