1 Home care agency Name: Institution: Course: Instructor: Date:
2 Home Health Agency The home health agency provides medical care and assistance to patients with chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and heart conditions. The goal of the agency is to help in daily living and assist in the management of the chronic condition in homes of patients. The intention in to reduce the cost of management of the diseases. Home based care helps in reducing the cost and provides a close monitoring of the patient to help deal with any other medical issues that might arise due to the chronic condition that the patient has. SWOT analysis of home health agency SWOT refers to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that home health agency has and is likely to face as a result of taking care of patients in their homes. Strengths These are what gives the agency a competitive edge over other players in the market. Considering that chronic diseases are handled by both public and private hospitals, and other agencies, Home Health Agency has an edge by being able to provide the needed assistance in homes. They use the same qualified professionals used by medical facilities to provide the needed care to the patients. The other advantage is that the cost of providing home care is reduced compared to the other methods of care offered in medical facilities. Weaknesses The business requires established entities. The initial capital outlay needed by the agency is huge which limits the operations of the business. There is a growing demand that requires home based care which has affected the ability of the agency to reach out to many patients who require home based care. Opportunity
3 The weaknesses present an opportunity for the firm to increase its operations. The availability of many clients seeking for home care due to chronic diseases gives the business an opportunity to expand the business. There are many health practitioners seeking to provide home based care which provides an opportunity for the agency to expand even further due to availability of health care providers. Threats The biggest threat is the competition that the agency is getting from private and public hospitals who are also offering the same care (Robinson-Ector et al., 2020). In fact the agency acts as the alternative care from the health care facilities. Recommendation Home health agency needs to have enough revenues that will help in providing an extended care to patients that needs its services as it is losing out to clients due to their inability to absorb as many patients as possible. With the expansion of their capital base, there is a need to have many employees who will be able to provide care to patients in their homes ones there is an expanded care base. Mechanic The agency needs to bring in stakeholders that can invest in the business. The agency needs to have a stronger capital base that can be realized by using investors who are willing to take risks and invest huge sums into the businesses the amount will help in operations and recruitment of more personnel that can offer home based care to patients. It will also help in getting the items needed for care due to the increased number of clients that will need care. An increase in the clients will mean an increase in the care providers and items used to provide the care.
