As an instructor, what are the benefits of using a Systems Approach? The Systems Approach has been considered a rational problem solving method that analyzes the educational process and makes it more effective. This method focuses on the student and the performance demonstrated. In education, ‘System’ incorporates all aspects and parts like pupils, teachers, curriculum, content, instructional materials, instructional strategies, physical environment and the evaluation of the instructional objectives (Anup, 2022). Systems Approach allows me as an instructor to brainstorm, plan, develop strategies, and execute for the final product or outcome. It also allows for feedback and reflection. I am a type A person with type B tendencies, so I like to plan and be organized in order to feel confident in my ability. The Systems Approach allows me to plan starting with the outcome that I desire. Starting with lesson or unit goals and objectives allows me to backtrack and ensure all activities, notes, anchor charts, vocabulary, etc are aligned with the outcome that I would like to achieve. How specifically is this approach beneficial to your students(or future students)? This approach is beneficial to my students because it allows them to be creative. Students are given concrete expectations, objects, and goals. With these set in place, students can then brainstorm and be creative with their responses to solving problems. Another benefit from using the systems approach is that students are not just learning a topic, they are learning how to problem solve. Many students have a hard time with problem solving. Students can take the information they have learned and apply it anywhere. It is a great tool that allows students to be organized and follow through.
