Report
AE340 Class # 10 At this point, we’ve concluded the discussion on 1D flows. The Bernoulli equation was introduced – emphasizing that it applies to inviscid flows. Forces due to open jets were discussed. Flow measuring devices were discussed (Pitot tube, Venturi tube, Orifice, and also Injectors). The method of including minor friction losses was presented (loss coefficients in a Venturi tube, or in an injector). Next is quick summary of this Chapter:

Simple pump model ࠵?
Reminder about the AE340 Logic: The momentum equations are based on the principle: Acceleration = body force + pressure + viscous force So far, we’ve discussed pressure and body force (hydrostatics) and 1D inviscid flow (with fluid motion). Next, we shall focus on viscous flows and the effects of viscosity. Sometimes, the solutions presented in this Chapter are called: Exact Solutions . Here we can also show the relation between a 2D flow and the 1D model we used so far. The main topics in this Chapter are: the viscous flow between two parallel plates and the flow in cylindrical pipes.
