What problem or opportunity did you identify that you addressed with your design
innovation?
-
The problem that was identified was overheating game systems or computers causing damage and producing hot air. When video game consoles or computers are used, a high amount of heat is produced which can damage the device and also emit a lot of heat. If a video game console or computer is actively used in an enclosed space over time, it can emit a lot of heat and increase surrounding temperatures
What types of ideas did you generate from brainstorming? Provide a short description of different ideas you considered. -
We considered different ideas during brainstorming such as :
-
Console/Computer cooling filters - fan that filters high heat and keeps systems relatively cool
-
Attachable remote controlled fans - fans that can attach to ceilings and be used during power outages
-
Clip on fans - Bluetooth connectable fans that can clip onto your shirt when working out or exercising to keep you cooler while sweating
How did you narrow down the list of concepts?
-
We narrowed down the list of concepts by ranking each idea in terms of audience appeal. The Console/Computer cooling filters would likely appeal to more people than the other ideas
In generating and evaluating the design concepts, what constraints or requirements did you consider? How did these affect your choices?
-
In generating and evaluating the design concepts we considered the cost and effort of making the product. We also considered the effectiveness of the product and the science behind the functionality of the fan to produce an effective product. These affected our choices by allowing us to know what will help us produce the best result in relation to time, effort, and money
Part of an engineer's job to make a persuasive case for your concept. What is your
suggested design innovation and why do you recommend this over all of the other
concepts you considered? -
Our design innovation is a solution to the overheating and high heat emissions problem of computers and video game consoles in today’s society. We recommend this over all the other concepts that have been considered because computers and video game consoles are used in the daily lives of many people, and by problem solving things that people face on a day to day basis we can utilize the effectiveness and appeal of the product. The other concepts dealt with situations that are not frequently faced.
What goals will your design innovation achieve?
-
We will set to design and perform tests on a scheduled basis and work to produce the end result by a fixed date
Describe features that you like to implement in your new product: -
Functionality - Cools computer and video game consoles as well as filter out cool air rather than heat
-
Quality - Air filtering and adjustable power
-
Safety features - on/off switch, automatic turn off when system not in use
-
Packaging - 9x4 Inch boxes
-
Other considerations - Charging time, applicable batteries
Conclude this part with statements of value: -
What makes this product the best product available today is that although there are many items that cool different electronics, this one does that AND filters warm air for cool air. It is also cost efficient which makes it the best product for its price
-
Similar but inferior products cost about $16 and up -
Anyone that used computers or video game consoles a lot on a daily basis would appeal
to the product the most. Therefore it would appeal mostly to Students, Office workers, Business professionals, and gamers
What parts of the fan studied during the previous studio session that could be used in your new product? -
On/off switch, Battery holding tray, Wind blades, springs, motor, screws, plastic casing

A package of frozen fish sticks have different instructions when they are heated up on the stove as compared to using the oven.
Stove: Heat over medium flame for 2 minutes. Then flip the fish sticks (turn them over) and heat them for another two minutes.
Oven: Preheat the oven to 375 F. Put them on a metal baking sheet for 15 minutes.
a. Explain why the instructions have you flip the fish sticks over when you’re heating them with the stove, but not with the oven.
b. If you follow the oven instructions, the side of the fish sticks touching the metal baking sheet will cook more than the top side of the fish sticks. Explain why.

Ventilation: The plant must have adequate ventilation to prevent the buildup of oxygen gas, which can be flammable and cause potential hazards.
Electrical equipment: All electrical equipment used in the plant must be designed for use in a hazardous environment.
Structural requirements: The building must be designed to withstand the weight and pressure of the refrigeration and cryogenic systems, as well as the potential stresses caused by temperature fluctuations.
Please elaborate it well, this is an indoor consideration when designing cryogenic plant. you can add more.

Steps:
1. Collect Data: Review the Technical Specifications Document for details like storage room
dimensions, wall thickness, and materials. Use the ASHRAE CLIMATIC DESIGN CONDITIONS to
collect local data.
2. Calculate Room Surface Area: Determine the total surface area of the storage room,
accounting for walls and ceiling. Assume that the floor is well insulated and that heat transfer
within the floor is negligible.
3. Assess Insulation: Evaluate the insulation thickness and material properties.
4. Calculate Heat and Ventilation Loads: In general, heat load calculations consist of several
components such as equipment and internal and external sources. In this project, it is crucial
to consider lighting as part of the heat load, in addition to the ventilation load. The other
factors can also be taken into account, however, those are optional considerations. For
lighting load, see Appendix A.

The company is interested in expanding its production capability into ceramic based products. You
have been asked to identify typical products manufactured using selected ceramic processes and
then describe how the properties of the ceramic make this a suitable process for the product.
Briefly describe the process and then examine which types of products which can be manufactured
using this process. Then describe the properties that make the ceramic and process suitable for that
application.

Jack Jokely got up late one morning and was trying to find a clean pair of socks. He has a total of six pairs (3 manroon and 3 white) in his drawer. Jack is not a very good housekeeper and his socks were just thrown in his drawer and, to make the morning perfect, the lightbulb is burned out so he can't see. How many socks does he have to pull out of the drawer before he gets a matched pair (two maroon socks or two white socks)?
