In a detailed paragraph, explain the value of this Web site and how the information from this resource can enhance your instruction. Be sure to address how the strategies for improving automaticity of math facts are beneficial to students. Conclude with how the information in this Web site will help the students with whom you will work.
The website “Mental Math Addition Strategies” is a great resource for teacher and students that contains arrays and different strategies for students to learn mental math. It includes projects, task cards, and real world connections math problems that students are able to solve and practice. It also includes webinars that can be joined to get trained or get tips on how to use some of the resources on the website. Mental math should be a key point in every math lesson. When I taught 3
rd
grade math last year I always included 5 minutes of mental math, after our Spiral Review. Mental Math in my class was practicing math that could be solved quickly in the students minds, no paper or resources needed. Using the resources on this website would challenge students more than just simple math facts (additions, subtraction, multiplication and division).
