Lesson Plan 1
Subject and Grade Level:
Math, Fifth Grade
Standards
State Standard(s) of Learning: Common Core Standards
CCSS.Math.Content.5.NBT.B.5: Fluently multiply multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. The goal of this standard is to help students master the concept
of multiplication by the fifth grade. They should be able to understand basic facts and practice multi-digit numbers. The Kahoot app provides a way for students to practice their math skills.
CCSS.Math.Content.5.OA.A.1: Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
CCSS.Math.Content.5.OA.A.2: Write simple expressions that record calculations with
numbers and interpret numerical expressions without evaluating them ("Fifth grade math common core state standards: Overview," 2024).These standard aims to help pupils grasp multiplying by the fifth grade. In addition, they should be able to practice
multi-digit numbers and understand basic facts using the Kahoot app.
ISTE Technology Standard(s):
Creative Communicator (1.6.a) Students select the right mediums and resources to fulfill the intended goals of their communication or work.
Knowledge Constructor (1.3.b) – Students assess the accuracy, relevance, perspective, and creditworthiness of information from media or other sources ("ISTE Standards," 2021).
LESSON PLANS
3
Additionally, the mathematics standards, known as the CCSSM, provide explicit instructions on how students should demonstrate their knowledge and skills in various areas, such as geometry (Nirode & Boyd, 2021).
Lesson Objective(s):
Fifth-grade students should be able to demonstrate mastery of multiplication by taking part in a Kahoot quiz, which correctly answered over 80% of the questions (Kahoot!
, 2024).
Biblical/Character Education Principle(s):
Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)
: “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” This passage might be incorporated into conversations about creating goals and plans for accomplishing them to encourage children to seek God's guidance in their mathematical activities (King James Bible, 1769/2019, Proverbs 16:3).
Proverbs 24:3-4 (KJV
)
: " Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Applying this scripture, which emphasizes the importance of mathematics knowledge and comprehension, can build a strong foundation for problem-solving and decision-making (King James Bible, 1769/2019, Proverbs 24:3-4).
Accommodations
Gifted:
Provide extra rounds of complex multiplication problems or extension questions.
Limited English Proficient (LEP): To help with understanding, provide visual aids with the questions, such as pictures or diagrams.
LD, ED, ADD, etc.: Ensure that the Kahoot questions are presented understandably and straightforwardly and offer more time or assistance as required.

Present Kahoot as an entertaining and engaging method for reviewing multiplication concepts.
Give a brief explanation of how Kahoot functions, highlighting its game-like elements
and the chance for pupils to compete with one another.
Instruction
Using flashcards or another visual aid, review multiplication facts from 1 to 12 with the entire class.
Describe the Kahoot quiz's guidelines, including how to sign up and use their devices to respond to questions.
Reinforce how critical it is to respond to the questions quickly and accurately.
Guided Practice
Provide a few sample questions in a practice round of Kahoot to help students get accustomed to the controls and structure.
Run a trial round of Kahoot using a few sample questions to help students familiarize themselves with the controls and format.
Independent
Practice
Begin the multiplication facts up to 12 Kahoot quiz.
Motivate pupils to actively engage and make a sincere effort to respond to every question accurately.
Keep an eye on your student's progress and help when required.
LESSON PLANS
5

Examine the Kahoot quiz results as a class after you have finished it.
Celebrate the accomplishments of the students and point out areas that need work.
Discuss methods for improving multiplication skills, such as using internet resources or flashcard practice.
Closure:
As the class ends, gather the students for a quick talk about their knowledge of multiplication concepts and their experiences using Kahoot.
Review key insights and strategies that emerged during the Kahoot quiz, highlighting areas of strength and areas for improvement.
Examine the most important ideas and tactics that surfaced from the Kahoot test, emphasizing your strengths and opportunities for development.
Recognize and honor the students' accomplishments and efforts throughout the class, expressing gratitude for their active participation and engagement.
Reinforce the value of multiplication skills in arithmetic and motivate pupils to keep up their frequent multiplication fact practice.
Emphasize the need for tenacity and resolve in acquiring mathematical ideas and use Kahoot as an entertaining and valuable practice tool.
Provide each pupil constructive criticism and support, acknowledging their improvement and development in multiplication fluency.
Address any unanswered questions or concerns that may still exist after the class by asking students to share their thoughts and inquiries (
Oraif& Edirisingha, (2022)
.

Reading, Fourth Grade
Standards
State Standard(s) of Learning: Common Core Standards
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.4.1
: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. This standard aims to help students demonstrate their ability to use English grammar and language conventions in their writing and speaking. While primarily focused on conventions, this can still be used in a lesson plan through Kahoot and align with the various phases of the teacher's lesson plan. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.4.3: Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical,
scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text ("English language arts standards » language » grade 4," 2021).
. This standards are also incorporated into the course's independent practice and instruction phases. Through Kahoot, pupils can participate in comprehension tests that require them to explain the topics covered in the text. Doing so can improve their understanding of its central ideas and objectives.
ISTE Technology Standard(s): Empowered Learner 1.1a – Students formulate and establish individual learning objectives,

create plans that make use of technology to accomplish them, and consider how to improve learning outcomes by reflecting on the learning process itself.
Global Collaborator 1.7.c – Students make positive contributions to safeguard teams by taking on a variety of tasks and duties and collaborating well to achieve a shared objective ("ISTE Standards," 2021). Additionally, Standards are acknowledged as a guide for understanding the various skills expected of students in different age groups. Early writing skills are one of the most crucial factors that can help predict reading and writing abilities later in life (Tortorelli et al., 2022).
Lesson Objective(s):
Students who actively participate in a Kahoot quiz and correctly answer
at least 80% of the questions will exhibit comprehension of essential themes and details in a text (Kahoot!
, 2024).
Biblical/Character Education Principle(s):
Proverbs 15:1 (KJV)
: “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”
This scripture highlights the value of empathy and communication and can be used to highlight character traits, motivations, and conflicts in literary works (King James Bible, 1769/2019, Proverbs 15:1).
Philippians 4:13 (KJV): “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
This passage could be used to highlight how characters in literary works show perseverance, overcome hardships, and face challenges (King James Bible, 1769/2019, Philippians 4:13).
Accommodations
