Felice White Applied Mathematics Assessment 06/08/2023 Career Dev I Theory & Practice Mrs. Grunauer Describe how you can best leverage your practice assessment results to obtain and maintain employment after graduation. Explain why the skills assessed by the Applied Mathematics Practice Assessment are important to career readiness. o Refer to the job postings you used for working on your resume and cover letter. You should also consider what you know about your field, based on your other courses and previous knowledge. Evaluate the specific goal(s) you would like to accomplish as a result of this analysis of your current ability levels and how you can accomplish this goal. o (For instance, if you scored a bit low, you might want to improve your skills in solving complex math problems. How could you do that?) Being an accountant, you must work with numbers on a day-to-day basis. To obtain and maintain my employment after graduation, I will keep notes from the courses with mathematical procedures that will help me along the way until I can properly understand the equation. It is necessary that I understand the accounts I will be working on for clients. Taking the mathematical assessment lets me know where I stand as to being that accountant that an employer would want to help grow with the company. The Mathematics Practice Assessment is important to career readiness because businesses depend on whether their employees can calculate their money to help make money, not lose money. How can I help my company grow if I am losing out on money because I do not know how to properly
calculate my client’s accounts? Not being able to properly calculate my client’s accounts will lead to losing our clients and not receiving the revenue that is needed to pay employees and keep the business open. Viewing my results of the mathematical practice assessment, I know I need improvement because math is not my favorite subject, I can get a little confused on how to calculate numbers as to doing fractions. I know I chose being an accountant but the experience that I have had with looking at some of the work, I had become interested in wanting to know more background working with account payables and accounts receivable due to me being an owner of a small business. My goal is to improve my skills by going over notes that I have accumulated from my courses until I become an expert at what I have learned to apply to my business.
