Monitoring Worksheet 1: Wired floristry product - Corsage
Learners are to take home the corsage you made in class & monitor it over a 7 day period. You will record the materials and preparation techniques you have used and you will write notes on days 1, 4 & 7. Some points to consider in your records are lasting qualities of all the materials – think about yellowing leaves, dying flowers, dried foliage and the fact that they do no not have a water source.
Consider the environment the piece was kept in, warm, cold, draughts, sun, pedestrian traffic etc. Was this environment suitable for the materials or could it have
lasted longer if placed elsewhere? Would flowers need to be replaced for the product
to last the full 7 days?

Identify any pests & diseases on your materials or damaged/spoilt materials. e.g. thrip, yellowing leaves, mould, brown spots, petal damage, eaten leaves.

3. Post production monitoring. Describe the lasting qualities of the different materials in the piece and any conditioning techniques applied. e.g. misting flowers, top up water, re-cut stems, etc. Did any flowers need to be replaced during the monitoring period?
Note: these answers can be in dot point or paragraph.
Day 1: Flowers and Filler both holding up will , no visible changed , orchid with the broken stem has no visible signs of deterioration just yet .
Day 4: Thrp has started to drop flowers but still pretty well intact , orchid with broken stem now has brown spots leather fern has started to droop looking sad Day 7: All orchids now browning , thrypt has dropped more flowers and now has bold patches throughout leather fern has now started to brown / dry out 4. Describe in 50 words or more the environment

I left the button hole on the tv cabinet in my lounge room , stay pretty cool throughout the day as no one is home to use heaters ect . it does get a small amount of sun from the window and at night time the heater blows into the lounge room which may have caused flowers to dry out faster than they would have if left in a cooler less used area of the home
5. How did you dispose of your piece? Where there any actions required before disposal.
e.g. Compost, general As my apartment doesn’t have any green waste bins and I
don’t have a compost pile I just had to chuck the piece into the general rubbish bin .
