Effect of Shift Type on the Product Sales NAIMO MOHAMED
The aim of this task is to examine whether the shift type has a significant effect on the total sales. The task was divided into three parts. The first part is where the hypotheses were stated and data collected for this task was discussed. The second part is where descriptive analysis and inferential test were carried out. While the last part is where the results were discussed and recommendations were made. Introduction
Hypotheses Data collection Data used in this task was collected by my co-workers in the organization. Part 1 Speaker Note Since the aim is to examine the effect of shift type on the sales, then the shift type was taken as the independent variable while total sales was taken as dependent variable. The independent variable is nominal with 3 categories, the appropriate test considered is One way ANOVA test and the hypotheses are stated in the slide. Data on the total sales made by workers and their corresponding shift type was collected for me by my co-workers for the purpose of this analysis.

Descriptive Statistics The summary statistics for each shift category and the overall were shown in the figure below. After revealing the salient features of total sales across shift type, the inferential test was conducted to ascertain whether or not totals differ by shift type. Part 2 Speaker Note The day shift accounted for an average sales of $475.97(SD=$305.54), the night shift accounted for an average sales of $3902.82(SD=$2732.25) while the weekend shift accounted for an average sales of $8720.06(SD=$1427.10). And overall, all the 99 workers accounted for an average sales of $4366.28 (SD=$3832.06. With this summary statistics, it can be seen that the highest sales were made by the workers with weekend shift. However, only the inferential test can ascertain the significance of the difference in sales
Inferential test Results The test results are shown in the figure below. The shaded part in the graph above shows the rejection region. The results are F(2, 96) = 176.97, p<.001. The results can be used to make inferable decision about the population because the sample size is reasonably large. Reject the null hypothesis because the test statistic falls in the rejection region. Part 3 Speaker Note A one-way Anova test was conducted and the results are revealed above. The test results provided sufficient evidence to support the fact that there are significance differences in product sales among the three categories of shift type. That is, the null hypothesis was rejected because the p-value was less 0.05 level of significance. Also, the test statistic of 176.97 falls in the rejection region. Hence, the shift type had a significant effect of the product sales of the
Encourage and Re-train the day and night shift workers. Examine what the weekend shift workers were doing right to account for a very high sales and encourage them as well. Recommendations Speaker Note To enhance the efficiency of day and night shift workers, there is need for continuous training on product sales. This will boost the sales from the day and night shift and overall increases the firm’s profit. Also, there is need to encourage those doing a great job to boost the product sales. The workers on weekend shift should be encouraged so that their level of efficiency in product sales will not drop
