Hello, Mr./Mrs. X. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has a unique, world class program called Export Odyssey. The objective of Export Odyssey is to work with a manufacturer firm in North Carolina and
develop an international sale with a buyer
in another country. Our work includes a rigorous analysis including international trade agreements, global barriers, potential buyer companies and distribution channels, competitive analysis, pricing strategy, profitability analysis, and a marketing plan. We believe that your company and its XX product have great potential to be successful with exports. This project is free of charge
and would require very little of your time
as we use our skills
to put a comprehensive analysis together for you. At the end of the project, we will give you all our information and analysis for your internal records.
Below is an example of past successful projects led by the students and guided by the professor in the
International Marketing course. Miss Jenny's Pickles has twice worked with Export Odyssey, and co-owner Jenny Fulton had this to say about the experience: “
Our UNCG Export Odyssey team provided us an overwhelming large binder with all the research they had found and also a top five list of countries that they felt would be open to Miss Jenny's Pickle products. The team helped us make our first sale to the United Kingdom.
By offering a specific course on exporting, I feel that the Bryan School is ahead of the curve in connecting the dots that we truly live in a small world. 95% of the world's population lives outside of the United States and less than 1% of US companies actually export. There is tremendous opportunity awaiting all involved. The more education around exporting only improves and helps US companies.”
The 6 members of our team work together on determining the best export marketing strategy, including the identification of foreign customers. The project would last through the spring (end of April), and during that time my team and I will make a dedicated effort, in cooperation with you, to export your products to an unexplored foreign market. We would be pleased to work with your company and hope to receive a positive response from you.
If you have any questions concerning this project/collaboration/team do not hesitate to contact me. Since this is a time sensitive project, we will follow up with you via telephone within a week of sending this letter.
Sincerely yours,
