According to Kotler and Keller (2016) a product is something that is offered to people in an
exchange for money. A product can be a good or a service.
It can be an actual object one can
hold, or a trip or experience.
One product that comes to mind that was not a success was Orbitz
Water. Orbitz water was released in 1997 by the Clearly Canadian Beverage Company (Spector,
2011).
The beverage was a fruit flavored drink with little gelatin pearls floating throughout the
drinking, giving it a lava lamp like appearance (Spector, 2011). The flaw of this beverage was
that it tasted like cough syrup and the texture of the gelatin pearls was very unappealing and the
product failed within a year of its release date (Spector, 2011). One business that comes to mind
that has been wildly successful is amazon. Amazon has everything that a person could ever need,
and you could have it at your doorstep in as little as two days. The reason it was been so
successful is because of its convenience. If someone needs to order something, all they have to
do is pull out their phone or computer order that item and that’s it, it’s that easy. That person can
avoid the lines at the store and not even have to leave their house.
