I am very excited to learn that you are looking to grow as a professional, and I would be happy to give you some advice. Something I have done in the past, and recommend that you do as well, is to create a personal and professional development plan. This is an important first step to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses and guide you in creating goals. It’s also important to think about your professional advancement and take some time to reflect on your personal ambitions. I want to make sure that you enjoy what you do! Let’s talk more about this plan so I can provide you with more direction. Best of luck! Robin Bennett
Directions Your mentor, Robin, recommended that you develop a personal and professional development plan. Robin explained that it is very important to start this kind of task with an open mind. You should be open to feedback from others and open to self-reflection. This process takes time and a specific mindset. Self-reflection is key to setting specific, meaningful goals and learning to guide your own development. To complete your plan, download the Personal and Professional Development Plan document, which you can find in the "What to Submit" section. Read the instructions carefully and respond to each section completely, making sure to address each question. Your plan must address the following: Personal Reflection : In this section, you will reflect on your personal values and development. Professional Reflection : In this section, you will find a job description for a job you would like to obtain in three to five years. Once you find a job you would like to pursue in the future, you will reflect on your personal and professional abilities: do they match the job description you found? Think about where you meet the job requirements, as well as areas where you could improve. Developmental Goals : In this section, you will develop personal and professional SMART goals to help you grow as an individual and team contributor. Development Opportunities : In this section, you will determine the development opportunities you will pursue now and those you will pursue in the long term as you work to fulfill your personal and professional goals.
