Discussion Assignment Unit 8. Based on what you have learned in this unit, answer the following questions: 1. Should corporations and individual consumers bear joint responsibility for sustaining the environment? Why or why not? Yes, I agree that businesses and individual consumers should participate in the burden of preserving the environment. First and foremost, it's important to understand that businesses and individual customers both share responsibility for maintaining the environment. It should be socially conscious from a business perspective because it will improve the company's reputation and brand. Additionally, it motivates staff members to make appropriate use of the resources at hand. Employee morale and labor productivity may be improved if a formal firm adopts environmental stewardship as part of its corporate social responsibility (Murphy,2019). 2. What obligation does each of us have to be aware of our own carbon footprint? By using resources more prudently, people may do their share to protect the environment and prevent serious harm from being done to the ecosystem. For instance, car owners could limit their daily use of their vehicles to reduce carbon emissions and instead choose for public transportation. This will work for wealthy nations with well-designed transportation infrastructure, but we should learn how to recycle and gradually phase out the usage of plastics. Additionally, we can use solar-powered roofing tiles thanks to Tesla's creative developments, which can help individuals reduce their carbon footprints (Byars and Stanberry, 2019). Also take note that planting trees might help reduce pollution. By absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere and releasing it into the atmosphere as they grow, trees help to slow down global warming.

3. If individual consumers have some obligation to support environmentally friendly technologies, should all consumers bear this responsibility equally? Or just those with the economic means to do so? The obligation should fall on every consumer. I believe there are always alternative ways for those who lack financial resources to support environmental well-being, such as by planting trees in their communities. Additionally, they might educate people in their neighborhoods on the negative environmental effects of plastic and other non-biodegradable materials as well as recycling options. 4. How should society decide about matters related to environmental responsibility? We must involve everyone in decision-making about environmental challenges in society by promoting environmental responsibility through social media platforms and institutions like schools and churches, as well as by passing laws to regulate it. People in society will be inspired to help improve the environment when they are aware of the advantages associated with doing so. To make decisions regarding environmental issues in societies, we need to bring everybody on board by raising awareness about the importance of environmental responsibility through social media platforms and institutions such as schools and churches, and enacting laws to control them. When members of society are aware of the benefits derived from taking care of the environment, they will be encouraged to contribute to making it better.
