MGT 435: ORG CHANGE WK5 DISC2 Evaluate the four traits of organizational learning. Provide examples of how learning and change can impact one another. The four traits of Organizational Learning are constant readiness, continuous planning, improvised implementation, and action learning. Weiss explains the four traits as; constant readiness refers to a learning organization’s ability to respond to change situations. Continuous planning allows leaders to focus on strategies and flexible approaches rather than mapping every step of a process. With improvised implementation , learning organizations that adopt the trait encourage experimentation and reward small successes before scaling these wins company-wide. Improvised implementation also means that everyone in the company plays a creative role and contributes to the big picture. Action learning also refers to continuous planning that is, instead of annual review-style reflections and planning, organizations that engage in action learning constantly reflect and adjust (Weiss, 2016). Learning and change interact in a variety of ways. As new knowledge is obtained, new ideas emerge, leading to further positive improvements. The data collected annually by the NFL and Doctors for player safety is a wonderful example of this. Collisions have been linked to severe cases of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, according to studies (CTE). As a result, the league and doctors devote time and resources to developing better equipment that emphasizes health and lifespan. The NFL has recently adjusted its style of play, making it less violent and more entertaining. Every year, league executives, coaches, players, and physicians evaluate footage and reports to make necessary equipment and regulation modifications to ensure that players have a productive life after their football careers. As medicine evolves, so do the methods by which it is practiced. Reference: Resnick, B. (2018, February 2). What a lifetime of playing football can do to the human brain . Vox.
