2 1. My views on this proposal as an administrative team member is that we need to re-introduce the value of PACS. A major concern is being that its very hard to find the radiography at the demanded immediate time but also difficult to manage the required communication with high accuracy for various patients and medical staff's requests. Due to these issues it's important to note how PACS can release these issues but making it more effective when it comes to finding information quicker. The questions that I have are why is there so much fear within staff about adapting to new technologies? Is there a benefit within the old technologies? How could these efforts be affected by the organizations that are involved? These questions are for the board of directors and executive leadership. I do believe that in this case there is someone who is failing to do his or her homework in putting together a plan for the PACS project such as communication. Communication is important especially within the project planner to ensure expectations of project, cost, timeline and having their leadership guides being reciprocated by staff. Within this project the main goal is to ensure staff see the value of the PACS. I do believe there are larger issues within this play because of lack of leadership. Without a strong leader , high sense of communication the vision for this project will go to ruins. Rather than individuals working themselves they need to come together and see how they can make the group as a whole strong allowing the project to be made effectively and long lasting. 2. Assuming that the CEO believes that the PACS project is well aligned with Lakeland's strategic goals but that this case hasn't been made clear to the board. The CEO needs to be the one who leads the project as the project sponsor and with the project management leader they should be their supporting partner to push this project forward. If the CEO leads the project and can properly and effectively communicate why certain things and steps work in a specific way
3 then it will prove how it can be successful and what could be improved overtime. It's important to inspect all parts of this project to ensure that this project has the right reasons, strategic alignment, background history, and communicating the value to the different staff levels. While these are very important aspects it is important to develop a project charter, budget, timeline, and objectives to ensure all the key information the board of directors finds important is available and covered when needed to be explained but also looking into the future for what can be done and it being effective. 3. The board's concerns about medical staff commitment is relevant in this case because there is an increased level of investment that they are needing to make every year. Something that can make a real effect is ensuring that there is a high level of commitment from the medical staff to show the choices of investment is put to good use releasing stress and from there the board will understand the value add of PACS. 4. Developing a strategy is important when it comes to addressing the board's concerns and winning their buy-in and approvals for the PACS projects The CEO with a project manager needs to be the person who leads the project, there needs to be a present up front to ensure security and confidence things will be done. The strategy will provide and show the value of PACs throughout the organization, and within this is to uphold the idea of this being a smart and progressive investment. To improve this project there needs to be an outline that displays their budget, timeframe in which they want things to happen and objective in which need to be met. It's important to know within the project what they are getting into but also having the need to communicate the value of the different stakeholders. There needs to be clear expectations and provide consistent updates within the project of any delays and changes that everyone is allowed to be informed on as the strategy needs to be strong showing a strong investment and project.
