Explain why customer service skills are important when dealing with customers on a daily basis. How would you deal with a difficult client or customer? Imagine this customer wants you to fix a problem with the service or item they received BUT it is not your fault. Personal care services workers should be energetic, approachable, and compassionate because this often demands that a sense of selflessness when caring for clients takes precedence over other demands and distractions. Working with people, as personal care services workers do on a daily basis, requires a willingness to learn new techniques and improve skills. Those who do not improve their skills fall behind and become less skilled and, subsequently, less sought out. When dealing with a difficult client, do not lose patience with them and remain calm no matter how disrespectful they are. If they want you to fix a problem that is not your fault, explain to them the things that you can do to help. If they proceed to be demanding, let the client know that there is nothing you can do and apologize for the inconvenience.
