Discussion 4: Social Groups After reading Chapter 6 of your textbook, and watching the video posted for today, please write an original post discussing the organization and social dynamics of a group you belong to, either on or off campus. Some things to think about including in your post are: Does the organization of the group work well for the group's purpose? Should changes be made? Are you the leader of this group, or a member at large? Would you change any of the group's bylaws, rules, or objectives? If so, why? I belong to authorization group at work at Travis Credit Union, Business Account Services Department. My leadership team, that consist of our department manager who is our Instrumental leader and department supervisor, works as our Expressive Leader, their leadership style is more of a mixture between authoritarian and democratic . We’re a small department of two people but we work closely with a sister department that has another seven individuals. Because we’re a small team of two, it’s very important that we get along harmoniously and that we’re able to function like a well-oiled machine. My team-mate and I have been working together now for almost 3 years, so we understand how we operate and understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. With our sister department we get along well, friendly with each other and we highly respect one another. I want to say what plays a big role in our great social dynamics is from our leadership team and company culture. I would say my team and I do work well towards our organization’s purpose. Because we’re a credit union we offer financial literacy, community support and economic growth. Though because we are considered back office, we assist our organization by assist our branch representatives that directly work with our members I don’t relatively think there are changes my department can do I think we lack more in a technological sense. Meaning that I feel that to assist our members better I think we could use more products and services when it comes to our business members.
I do not have a title as a leader but within my small department of two, I like to influence my team to find more productive processes.
