Shama Saramah Task 1 A- 1- A main focus that the us boat manufacturer has is being innovative, every decision they make is about improving something, they are a very forward-thinking company that has empowered its employees to make suggestions and provide feedback. The US boat manufacturer, also relies on the Indian fishermen’s feedback on their product designs, with this information we can conclude that the company culture is decentralized, which ensures that the employees and consumers are heard and their ideas are considered while making a prototype that consumers can test for feedback to implement a finished product that fits the target market. 2- Adopting a decentralized organizational structure gives a positive vibe among the employees, all the employees feel included and important because their thoughts and ideas are important and implemented in the manufacturing of the company’s Product. A decentralized organizational structure also gives employees access to discuss ideas for the company with the founders themselves. 3- 1-Company culture: The US fishing company chose the clan culture to implement, the environment they have created provides for ideas to be shared and communicated among all employees and founders with ease which creates a positive vibe among the Employees in the company. 2- Organizational Structure: The adoption of a decentralized organizational structure for the fishing boat company, allows for communication to go through smoothly and with ease between the founders and employees. This essentially means that all decisions are not only dependent on the thoughts and ideas of top-level executives but the input of all employees are equally considered in the decision-making process. It is a good advantage for the U.S. fishing boat manufacturer because it also allows for a diversity of opinions and ideas from both founders and employees of with different experiences to be taken into consideration while making important decisions. . 4- Strategic decision: The vision statement of the us boat manufacturing company states: “We will be the most sustainable company in the industry.” The mission statement of the us boat manufacturer. The most innovative, customer-driven design and growth in the industry, when considering these statements, it is obvious that the strategic direction of the company is sustainable manufacturing and customer satisfaction, and all of these aspects will be considered when making a major decision. B1- The emerging market in India presents many opportunities for the company to grasp, and one of them is to help the Indian government in reducing plastic waste, by using
plastic waste in landfills in India to make their boats. Considering how important the fishing industry in India is the company’s product must align with the customer’s wants. Since most fishers in India use nonmotorized boats so as not to upset the natural ecosystem, a foldable fishing boat would be the best option. b2-Using the recycled plastic found in the local community would help with reducing waste in India, while at the same time giving them more innovative and eco-friendly products. while also being a company that helps the environment. The new foldable boat will meet India’s market for non-motorized, eco-friendly fishing boats made for calm water. The boat would be easy for the fishermen to handle in and out of water. The boat is also non-disruptive to the ecosystem. B2(a)- Empathize – The company would first need to engage Indian fishers, conducting qualitative research, and gathering insights to understand their needs and preferences. the U.S. fishing boat manufacturer will need to understand the needs of its consumers in this case comfort, ease of use, and being eco-friendly. Define – the company will need to analyze the collected data about the preferences of the fishermen with the boat they want. the U.S. fishing boat manufacturer will need to provide a non-mechanized boat based on the data they collect. Ideate – company employees exchange ideas until they find the perfect solution to provide the suitability and comfort that the fishermen desire in their boat. The US manufacturing company should start to evaluate and consider a prototype and figure out where manufacturing will take place. Prototype – At this stage, we make a few foldable fishing boats. We are using the design ideas, and evaluating their performance and usability. Test – This stage will let us decide which boat prototype to move on to production. The US manufacturing company would let fishermen try out the prototype boat and get their feed. Back on each one. Implement - from the feedback received during the test stage. We will decide which boat moves on and is implemented into the design process. B2(b)- 1- Emerging Market Culture – The way the design thinking process affects the culture is that the company needs to make sure to keep in mind the values that the Indian community. Uphold and take seriously the wand of the Indian government. To reduce waste and be sure to be an eco-friendly boat manufacturing company.
2- Organizational structure – Having a decentralized organizational structure, means that all the employees have a hand in the decision-making and can share their ideas with upper management more freely. Everyone in the company can work together, from the top of the company to the interns, to follow through on each step of the design thinking process, especially in the test and implement stages where quick decision-making is needed. 3- company ethics – the company’s main priority is to make decisions that are suitable for customers and the environment by following the company’s ethical statement which, states “We will make decisions that are sustainable for the customers and the environment.” Every decision the company makes will be held to the standards and expectations which will be important in the empathize stage. C- The company’s ethical statement puts a lot of importance on sustainability for customers and the environment, this company’s ethics would positively impact the Indian Market because one of India’s concerns is how to reduce waste, which is an environmental problem this US boat company can help with by recycling their plastic into boats. India would also like more non-motorized boat options that would help reduce the pollution of the air, so as not to upset the ecosystem and the US boat company is producing them.
