2 Assignment 2 Create a simulation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion decision-making scenario What is diversity, equity, and inclusion? “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are three closely linked values held by many organizations that are working to be supportive of different groups of individuals, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations” ( What is diversity, equity, and inclusion? , 2022). In my scenario, I focus on the tech startup “Tech Innovate”. “TechInnovate is an IT managed service provider that provides IT solution services for small and midsize businesses. What we offer is fast, reliable, and affordable IT service. We are a group of individuals with years and years of experience in the field of IT services and we to provide unmatchable IT services for businesses that require them the most” (Managed IT services Melbourne - business IT support, 2021). It has grown rapidly in the last couple of years. Although the corporation employs a diverse workforce, complaints have recently been raised about injustices and lack of inclusion in the workplace. The problem has worsened, affecting productivity and corporate culture. There are several teams inside the firm, each headed by a team leader. The teams include of individuals from various age ranges, genders, and cultural origins. What are the common Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics trending in my field? Some of the people in my company are, John: TechInnovate's CEO is John. He has been employed by the firm since its founding and is a Caucasian man in his late 40s. Maria: At TechInnovate, Maria leads her team. She has worked for the firm for two years and is a Latina in her early 30s. And Ahmed: Ahmed works for TechInnovate as a software engineer. He has been working for the firm for a year and is a Muslim male in his late 20s. Like any other company, TechInnovate’s disagreement is that the company's decision-making process is exclusive is the
3 Assignment 2 source of the issue. Some workers believe that their opinions are ignored and that their voices are not heard. Some groups inside the organization now feel marginalized as a result of this. A few possible solutions are as following: Form a DEI Committee: This group would be in charge of making sure that everyone is given a chance to participate in the decision-making process. Representatives from every team and level within the organization would be there (Ly, 2023). Adopt DEI Training: DEI training ought to be provided to all staff members, particularly those in leadership roles. They would learn the value of diversity and how to promote it in the workplace from this (Ly, 2023). And lastly, provide a Feedback Mechanism: Put in place a way for staff members to freely express their ideas and grievances. Employees would feel appreciated and more open communication would result from this.
