2 Learning Organization Element Extent to which the company epitomizes this element   Provide a sentence justifying your determination High   Medium   Low   Inspiring and motivating people with a mission or purpose  x This is why I believe it is high. Chevron sets clear expectations and communicates shared purpose. Chevrons mission is “our purpose is to develop the affordable, reliable, ever-cleaner energy that enables human progress. We work to provide the energy that enables human progress around the world. We live this purpose every day.” (Wirth, 2023). Developing leaders  x This is why I believe it is high. Each of Chevron’s gas station/convenience stores has its own individual manager to ensure that their staff is offering the best customer service possible and to ensure that their staff has the support they need. Chevron has an Emerging Leaders program. These are employees who are first-time supervisors or early in their managerial roles at Chevron. The learning path for this program focuses on developing effective managing skills like coaching, giving feedback, and delegating, among others. Empowering employees  x This is why I believe it is low. Although Chevron does promote The Chevron Way and their policies require that they treat all their employees with respect and dignity and promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. They don’t empower their employees towards growth. They do offer a leadership program but for those who are at lower-level positions, they do not have programs to encourage them to grow or further their education.
3 Learning Organization Element Extent to which the company epitomizes this element   Provide a sentence justifying your determination Convenience stores tend to have a high turnover in with the store level staff. Accumulating and sharing internal knowledge  x This is why I believe it is medium. Chevron accumulates and shares internal knowledge within the leadership team which extends to the store managers, but it does not extend down to the store level staff such as their cashiers. Of course, Chevron shares with the public only what they want them to know, what makes their public image reflect in the best light. Gathering and integrating external information  x This is why I believe it is medium. leveraging their strengths to safely deliver lower carbon energy to a growing world. Their message to the consumers is that they aim to lead in lower carbon intensity oil, products and natural gas, and advance new solutions to reduce carbon emissions of major industries. Challenging the status quo and enabling creativity  x This is why I believe it is low. Chevron promotes its continuous commitment to understanding and evaluating opportunities across a range of alternative and renewable energy sources, including wind, solar and biofuels, as well as energy efficiency technologies yet, a new investigation into Chevron's climate pledge has found the fossil-fuel company relies on “junk” carbon offsets and “unviable” technologies, which do little to offset its vast greenhouse gas emissions and in some cases may actually be causing communities harm. Recommend at least 1 step the organization's leaders could take to enhance 1 of the elements and explain how that could help the organization create more value. The element that Chevron would benefit from enhancement is empowering employees .

4 Learning Organization Element Extent to which the company epitomizes this element   Provide a sentence justifying your determination Granted Chevron has a leadership program but, that only benefits those who qualify in becoming a manager. That is a small percentage of the in-store staff, the company always seeks outside of the company when hiring store managers because their staff does not meet the qualifications. What Chevron should offer is an educational program. A program that promotes higher education which leads to growth. Offer education reimbursement. Once a degree has been achieved, promote growth within the company. This will not only improve the quality of life of their employees but also minimize the high turnover that they currently have within their stores. Their employees would feel valued, they would feel that they are working towards a better life for themselves. Many companies will work with universities and offer employee discounts, Chevron could as well work with a university and offer their employees a benefit such as that one.
