2 Identify Alphabet’s short-term and long-term goals. Alphabet’ Inc’s main strategic goal lies within its mission statement “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. “(Discounted Cash Flow, 2023). Alphabet's short-term goals are primarily focused on new product releases and user growth. This involves the development and launch of innovative products, as well as strategies to increase the user base of existing products. These goals are expected to be achieved soon, which could range from the present day to the end of the current year. Alphabet Inc.’s short term goals include: 1. Enhance the Google user experience core services like Search, YouTube, and Google Maps. The goals are to improve their algorithms. 2. Expanding its hardware business with products like Google Pixel phones, Google Home speakers, and Nest devices. 3. Their focus is on increasing their market share in the cloud computing sector through Google Cloud Platform. Long-term goal goals: 1. Through Waymo, Alphabet’s goal is to be a leader in the autonomous vehicle industry. 2. Alphabet has a long-term goal of being a leader in AI and machine learning. 3. Alphabet has several long-term goals in the healthcare sector through its subsidiaries like Verily and Calico. They aim to use technology to improve healthcare delivery and extend human life. The time range for completion for Alphabet’s long-term goals is projected for future years. Evaluate how mergers and acquisitions in the last 3 to 5 years have contributed to Alphabet’s performance and affected its organizational goals. Alphabet's Objectives, Both Short- and Long-Term – Among Alphabet's immediate objectives are boosting earnings from other sources and advertising – Increasing market share in important markets – Introducing fresh goods and services – Increasing productivity in operations – Among Alphabet's long-term objectives are becoming the world's top AI business creating innovative
3 technology to address global issues. Extending oneself into new sectors and market enhancing the quality of life for people everywhere. Within the last five years, Alphabet has completed several mergers and acquisitions, which include: Looker, an analytics tool. Go into new markets. Obtain new skills and technologies. Bolster its position in the marketplace. Determine   the most critical merger or acquisition that has contributed to Alphabet’s performance and success in achieving organizational goals.   Defend your choice.   “One of the most vital acquisitions for Alphabet was the purchase of YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion. At the time, YouTube became a growing platform for person-generated content, and the acquisition has proved to be immensely successful in accomplishing organizational goals.” (Nagy, 2022). Here are key motives why YouTube stands out: Dominance in Online Video:  YouTube has become the dominant platform for online video content globally. Its widespread person base and extensive content library contribute significantly to Alphabet's typical virtual dominance. The acquisition has allowed Alphabet to control a key phase of online media consumption. Monetization and Advertising Opportunities:  YouTube has advanced into a chief marketing platform, imparting Alphabet with a large supply of revenue. The platform's marketing abilities, including display advertisements, video ads, and partnerships with content creators, contribute extensively to Alphabet's standard financial overall performance. Diversification of Revenue Streams:  With YouTube, Alphabet has assorted its revenue streams beyond its middle search and marketing enterprise. This diversification has helped Alphabet navigate modifications within the virtual landscape and strengthen its position as an era conglomerate.
