As cited in our text, Rost (1991) noted that there are over 100 definitions of leadership in the literature specific to the topic of leadership. We have addressed several components of leadership, and there are a variety of terms used to refer to particular leadership styles. Now you will review these and build a personal working definition of leadership. As this is just the start of our course together, I hope you will refine your definition as we learn more about the topics, and you learn from each other in our discussions. List at least two leadership concepts that you feel are most important or most appealing to you, and what about each concept you find appealing. (10 points for at least two concepts and description of why appealing). Reflect on the leader you described in our discussion and provide an example of his or her skills to show which leadership aspects were demonstrated by this person. (10 points for alignment of the example with the leadership aspect demonstrated). Share which aspects of leadership you feel you use most often when you act in a leadership role. (10 points). In at least two to three sentences, share your working definition of leadership and why you think this definition is best as you plan to grow your leadership skills. (20 points). I would recommend you paste your responses into Grammarly to help you with editing. I do this regularly, and it is a great help, even if you are a strong writer. Describe at least two leadership concepts that you feel are most important, or most appealing to you and what about the concept you find appealing. Ex: Relational leadership appeals to me because I feel communication is critical and I enjoy forming strong working relationships. Adaptive Leadership appeals to me because I like to help solve problems to help a situation and see what I can do to adapt a change for the good. Behavior Leadership appeals to be I like to understand why the leaders act the way they act and why they behave the way they do. Reflect on the leader you described in our discussion and provide an example of his or her skills to show which leadership aspects were demonstrated by this person. I described my sister as my leader because she makes me face the challenges and shows me how to adapt to change, which would be in this case going to school to get my nursing degree. Share which aspects of leadership you feel you use most often when you act in a leadership role. When I act in a leadership role, I would be the adaptive leadership. I want to help people address their problems and get them to face their challenges. I like to investigate people to see what I can do to get passed the issues they are having. In at least two to three sentences share your working definition of leadership and why you think this definition is best as you plan to grow your own leadership skills. Leadership is a person who takes control and teaches a group of members on how to achieve a goal. I feel like it’s the best decision as I plan to grow my own leadership skills because my main goal is to help people or members of a group to achieve their goals.
