Target Corporation 2 o What are the organization’s current employee demographics (e.g., age, gender, ethnicity)? Target Corporation is known to have equal opportunities. According to Target’s Workforce Diversity Report, they currently have increased their numbers in ethnicity background by twenty percent. They have either hired more people of color for either a higher corporate position or they have hired more women to be the face in their stores. By setting this mission in place, it has allowed other genders and people with different ethnicity backgrounds to have a better chance of achieving higher standards in their workplace. o What was a recent change that affected a large group of employees or the organizational culture? When Target first introduced the company to their diversity equity and inclusion, there was not much diversity internally to show for. Most individuals in either a corporate or managerial position were Caucasian individuals. There was an exceptionally low percentage of those of color or those who had an international ethnicity. o How did the company handle it? The company created many different incentives that engaged many different employees to come and work for their company, such as increasing a higher percentage chance of hiring more people of color. With some of their stores being in India, women would now be allowed to apply for a higher position and role.

If it was handled ethically, what stands out as something to emulate in your future business endeavors? The change has been handled ethically, in fact Target Corporation has gained a higher percentage in other races and ethnicities when it comes to having a top- manager role. Technology o How does the company utilize technology in day-to-day business? As we know, the target is focusing on advancing their stores every day. By providing customers with a new app called “my checkout” it has allowed customers to not only shop in their local stores but, they can also pick items off their personal device and checkout with either their device pay or their personal credit / debit card. They have advanced their technology in their local stores by advancing their self-checkout lines along with their distribution centers. o What types of technology are used? The types of technology that is used in our organization is: Computers Scanners Networks Custom bots o How does a change of technology affect the organization?

Target Corporation 4 Target has developed new software along with a new checkout look. Storefronts always set the tone and vibration of the store. Target’s technology team has created bots that has their own personal software this type of device will allow less problems to run in each local stores when it comes to technological problems; by having this in their stores it has allowed for each team member to avoid losing at least 1,000 hours (about 1 and a half months) in total.
