1. How has modern strategic planning changed? In what ways has strategic planning stayed the same? In the dynamic landscape of today's business world, the pace of technological advancement shapes the evolution of modern strategic planning. The necessity to adapt swiftly to technological shifts prompts organizations to continually reinvent their measures and strategies, ensuring they remain not only relevant but also competitive in the market. (Intrafocus, 2014). However, amidst this rapid change, the foundational principles of strategic planning, focused on aligning resources effectively, have proven remarkably resilient. How do firms use mission and vision statements within a modern organization? Within the realm of modern organizations, firms leverage mission and vision statements as guiding beacons. These statements serve as navigational tools, directing organizations toward their intrinsic purpose and future aspirations. The more robust these statements are, the clearer the trajectory becomes for stakeholders, providing employees with a roadmap to attain their goals. (Hawthorne, 2019). 2. Research the vision and mission statement of an organization you’re familiar with and share it with the class. How might you improve on the statements? I chose Alibaba Group organization. Alibaba mission statement: “To make it easy to do business anywhere” Alibaba vision statement: “We aspire to be a good company that will last for 102 years. We envision that our customers will meet, work and live at Alibaba. How might you improve on the statements ? To enhance these statements, one could consider injecting a bit more specificity into the mission statement, offering a glimpse into the strategies or technologies Alibaba intends to leverage for simplifying global business. Additionally, the vision statement might benefit from further elaboration on how Alibaba envisions fostering an ecosystem where customers not only conduct transactions but also engage in work and life activities.
