Cognitive skills are important to being successful in the workplace as well as in other areas of life outside of high school, but sometimes they are not  as important as soft skills. Some soft skills essential to the workplace today include oral and written communication, teamwork and collaboration skills, and critical thinking or problem-solving skills (US Department of Labor, 2023). Though they may seem simple to reach, these skills can take a lot of time, dedication, and effort to achieve. In my opinion, there is not one soft skill that is more important than the other, rather I believe you can’t have one without the other. Most of the time communication skills may be superior skills yet critical thinking skills may sometimes be needed to ensure those communication skills are met. Collaboration also may take problem solving skills along with communication skills therefore showing they can all be completed but sometimes enhanced when collaborated with others.
