MGT 315 Week 4 – Discussion I would like you to choose a company and discuss their branding. In order to do this, you will first need to explain what branding is. After you describe your chosen company’s brand, please critique it. Has this company accomplished what they were setting out to do? Have they reached the audience they intended? Branding is viewed as a process that involves creating a specific name and image for a product in the mind of the consumers. This is mainly achieved through advertising campaigns that have a consistent theme. The purpose of branding is to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market necessary for attracting and retaining loyal customers. The company of choice was Starbucks, and the reason for selecting this business was they have done extremely well with capturing the attention of the consumers since their inception. They were transformed from a commodity to a splurge of $4, and Stanley Hainsworth is the individual responsible for the great brands. His reason for coming to Starbucks was to create something for the business to attract and retain customers. Starbuck’s brandings is simple and unlikely to cause distractions. When people hear the name Starbucks, and people that drink Starbucks have a favorite drink they are likely to order each visit. Regardless of the Starbucks visited, customers will receive the same quality of service and the same taste in the drink ordered (Starbucks.com, n. d.). For many years, Starbucks focus was to have its presence in every neighborhood, and at this point, there is approximately twenty-five hundred stores in approximately seventy-five countries and their focus is creating a global social impact. I believe that Starbucks reached the audience they intended, but simultaneously, most of their audience was mainly reached from the sale of coffee and assisting communities (Starbucks.com, n. d.).
