Report
As the Euro Disney theme park launch project manager, the top five stakeholders groups that I could have identified are the France government, Walt Disney Company, the Euro Disney S.C.A, the France public relations and media and the French Disney customers. These stakeholders groups can be identified differently based on their engagement. The government of France would fall under unaware category whereby they may not have known about the project and neutral category whereby they may have been aware of the project but restricted its involvement to neither support nor resist. Walt Disney company would be the leading category since it was aware of the Euro Disney project and actively participated to make it a success being the owners and shareholders of the project. The Euro Disney S.C.A would fall under the supportive category since it is a branch of the Walt Disney company operating in Paris. The France public relation and media will also be the supportive group since it is able to promote the project to its target audience in France and lastly the French Disney customers would fall under categories of resistant, supportive and unaware. Some may be resist the project for the fear of culture erosion while some may be supportive by accepting the project and worse there may be others not aware of its existence. The group that would most likely resist are the customers. To address this, I would employ strategies of public awareness and conduct market research. Public awareness will help educate potential customers on the need to embrace cultural diversity and inclusivity. Additionally, market research would enhance better understanding of the needs, concerns and preferences of the customers and influence necessary modification to improve acceptability. These strategy would not differ in any way from managing stakeholders in the U.S since resistance stakeholders exist globally due diverse culture and beliefs thus home is not an exception. In terms of stakeholder identification and management, Disney fumbled by not fully engaging the top stakeholders in planning and launching of the euro Disney project thus faced lots of resistance. For instance, the French Disney customers. were not considered and the company assumed the project would be as successful as it was in America. However, the American culture is way different from the European ‘s. additionally, public relations and media were not involved thus it made it impossible to positively share information about the project to influence its acceptability given that they make a team project and influence its success.
