How do you respond to a manager with a High-Mach personality orientation approach? What are the positives and negatives of a High-Mach manager in organizational culture? The way that I would handle a manager that had a High-Mach personality would be to simply just do the work that is required in the most efficient way possible and completely disregard whatever the manager feels that they need. It would also most likely affect the way that I feel about the manager since I don’t particularly like being manipulated or lied to, I prefer having managers state simply and bluntly what is needed and not try to play games, when necessary, work is being done (Vito, Et.al 2020). Several of the traits that high Mach individuals show could be useful particularly in law enforcement. Traits like pragmatism which is important because sometimes it is needed and hard decisions sometimes are necessary, another trait that they can show is being logical which is another positive trait in a lot of ways and could be beneficial to law enforcement because having logical thinking can result in the ability to prioritize aspects of operations (Vito, Et.al 2020). The negative traits though are far more damaging for example being manipulative can result in actions that could cause harm to the operation of law enforcement and being power hungry could result in unethical activities or corruption to get what they want which would be intensely harmful to the organization. The sort of manipulative behavior can also cause intense problems with working with others within the organization since once they realize they are being lied to and manipulated it destroys any sense of trust that could occur and which his necessary in any organization but particularly in law enforcement (Vito, Et.al 2020).
