2 Management (Code of Federal Regulations-CFR) The Code of Federal Regulations was published and registered by the United States departments and agencies through the Federal Register. It refers to the codification of the permanent and general rules and regulations which are administrative. Based on federal regulations, CFR is divided into 50 titles representing different areas. The regulations are updated annually (Regulations & Guidance, 2020). 14 CFR Part- 14 CFR Part 121 - Operating Requirements: Domestic, Flag, and Supplemental Operations. 14 CFR Part 121 details the operating requirements for domestic, flag, and supplemental operations of air carriers. The Federal Aviation Administration grants the FAR 121 certificate to operate on scheduled air space. Notably, the air carriers operating under the 121 certificate are only US-based, large airlines, all cargo operators, and regional air carriers. Also, they contain an FAA-approved hazardous materials program. Therefore, the aircraft must contain this program and ensure that it covers all aspects of transportation and acceptance for all the employees since their operations are majorly in isolated and remote areas. Moreover, the airlines operate under specific regulations that outline requirements for their employees (crewmembers) to ensure safety in their operations within the United States (Velázquez, 2016). They include operational rules, crew qualifications, and aircraft, maintenance, and inspection requirements. The primary attribute of Part 121 is to ensure safety within the United States, the crew, and different territories, including identifying the regulatory violations and monitoring procedural findings and deficiencies within the program.
3 To run or have a successful career in aviation, the FAA regulations are essential and an excellent tool for individuals in the future. For instance, Part 121 CFR is important for me in managing domestic, flag, and supplemental operations in the United States. This acknowledges that I understand the regulations and rules that I need to follow to ensure effective operations in managing air carriers and safety is guaranteed at a high level (Velázquez, 2016). Secondly, this Part is vital for my aviation profession as it will enormously help me be aware of the CFR and understand the safety standards for aircraft operations.
