The “Current Career Analysis: A Career Management Exercise” is a helpful tool for assessing one’s current situation and identifying improvement areas. One reflects on their career goals, threats, opportunities, and weaknesses. Strengths My strength was being satisfied with my current job. I realized that I have a stable income. I also have a work-life balance and supportive managers. I have enough time to pursue my personal and work interests. I have skills such as dedication and leadership skills. My expertise can make a big difference in the organization. Weaknesses My weaknesses included the failure to utilize my skill set fully. I also had other weaknesses such as the lack of certain qualifications and skills. There were many traits and skills that I could improve. I could also work on my bad habits such as getting late to work. Opportunities There were opportunities such as acquiring more skills and the existing growth opportunities in the organization. I could seize the existing growth opportunities in my organization to acquire more experience and skills. I could also seize growth opportunities in other organizations. The new positions existing inside and outside the organization were important growth opportunities. Threats The threats included other professionals doing similar jobs and the threat of new technologies. Other employees also wanted similar growth and promotion opportunities in the organization. New technologies such as artificial intelligence posed a threat to my current role. Such technologies could be used to perform the current tasks.
My personal SWOT analysis shows that I should develop skills to become competitive. I should also apply for other positions to undergo growth in my career. REFERENCES Herr, E. L. (2021).
