My research consists of lottery customer retention and sales. Starting with Stringer and Ortiz’s approach, I will be doing questionnaires and a focus group. This will require the use of surveying customers and employees from both Scientific Games and the Georgia Lottery (Stringer & Ortiz, 2021). Stringer and Ortiz emphasized the use of the mixed method approach which entails qualitative and quantitative responses in getting what you need (Stringer & Ortiz, 2021, pp. 52- 53).             I believe these two approaches (mixed method of qualitative & quantitative), will work very well for the focus group I’m doing for several reasons. Both use the methods of organized inquiry when planning and carrying out their research projects. When planning and carrying out research projects, both follow the principles of methodical inquiry. Both participate in reflective practice so that lessons learned from past actions might guide present behavior on how the customers will react. Because they are interested in learning "what works" in practice, both approaches will aim to adopt a combined insider- outsider perspective on the games (Stringer & Ortiz, 2021).             The one idea of Lewin’s that resonated the most with me was that Lewin's work originated from his desire to discover a method for effectively resolving social conflict through changing group behaviors, whether they occur in a team, as in my case, a focus group, or at the societal level (Burnes, 2004). His second purpose was to draw attention to the fact that he advocated for an ethical and humanist approach to behavior change. One that viewed engagement and learning as the two most important steps toward changing the way we see or approach a situation or a task (Burnes, 2004). In my opinion, this was another tactic for team collaboration. Brainstorming ideas from an ethical standpoint, to come up with fair and exciting games results that will encourage more lotteries play and the boosting of future sales.
