The first concept that I found interesting is the project network diagram which is
used by project managers to track activities and progress. The network diagram represents the
project's workflow while providing stakeholders with a bigger picture of the timeline,
dependencies, and activities. It ensures that the project manager can visually track the project
phase's right from its inception to completion [ CITATION QVi12 \l 1033 ]. Furthermore, it
highlights the precedence of activities while determining the impact of finishing the activities
early or late. As a project manager, I can use the network diagram to better allocate resources
and minimize constraints or issues. Furthermore, I can use the network diagram to schedule
the project timelines and ensure that the predefined goals are met.
The second concept focuses on the strategies used by successful program leaders. I
noted that a good leader/project manager has to exhibit authority in their interactions with the
followers. Regardless of the leadership style, the project manager holds authority over every
decision made by the group. In light of this, they have to be cognizant of the risks and
benefits of delegating authority. The project manager will take responsibility for any issues
that arise from concerted/ collaborative decision-making processes [ CITATION Rob13 \l
1033 ]. Furthermore, I learned that a good project manager is one who can plan for the
current and future settings in line with the organizational goals. The planning process should
be based on data and experience. As a project manager, I can use the insight to determine how
to plan for programs in advance while organizing every aspect of a program.
