Assessment Task 1: Knowledge questions Information for students Knowledge questions are designed to help you demonstrate the knowledge which you have acquired during the learning phase of this unit. Questions Provide answers to all of the questions below: 1. Explain the purpose of a Critical Incident Policy. A critical incident policy is a set of rules and regulations for an organization's response to the unexpected, major events is known as critical incidents. These situations could be situations of crisis, natural disasters or various occurrences that interfere with regular business activities. In order to reduce damage and successfully manage the crisis, the policy helps make sure that everyone in the organisation is aware of what to do, whom to communicate with and how to handle the issue. 2. .List two examples of procedures that are related to managing a crisis incident in the workplace. Two examples of procedures related to addressing a crisis situation at work are as follows: 1. Emergency Response Plan: In this plan it tell about what should be done in the case of a fire, natural disaster, or security threat. It goes over staff roles and responsibilities, emergency contacts, communication techniques, and evacuation protocols. 2.Crisis Communication Plan : In an emergency, this document outlines how to contact personnel, stakeholders, and members of the public. It goes over how to respond to inquiries from the media, write and send out statements, notify relevant parties, and ensure that accurate and consistent information is provided. 3. Identify and list three resources that could be used to support debriefing following a crisis incident. The resources that could be used to support debriefing following a crisis incident are: Counselling Services: skilled professionals who are able to offer teams or those who are impacted by the crisis with directions and emotional support. Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): These are activities given at work that give employees individual counselling and support. After a crisis, EAPs can provide services for wellbeing and mental health. Post-Incident Analysis Reports: It is a useful tool for discussing which involves the recording and analysing of particulars crisis situation. These reports help the formulation of possible future emergency response strategies by recognising the aspects that were successful and what could possibly be improved. 4. List four examples of conflict that would be covered by a dispute resolution policy. Employee Disputes: The conflicts between coworkers in issues related to the job, such assignments, duties, or interpersonal problems. Managerial Disputes: Conflicts between workers and their supervisors or managers that involve decisions, feedback, or work-related responsibilities. Policy Violations: conflicts related to how to implement or understand businesses procedures and regulations can give cause for disputes. Interdepartmental Conflicts: conflicts within goals, resources, or cooperative difficulties that can occur between various groups or the divisions inside the company. 5. List three features of an effective dispute resolution procedure. Clear Steps: Individuals need to be able to talk about and solve disagreements through following the method's clear and easily understandable procedures. Impartial Mediation: The involvement of a third-party observer or mediators that is going to help in directing the process of settlement completely and without taking sides. 6. Explain how the Privacy Act relates to managing stress and wellbeing. Personal information privacy has been protected from law under the Privacy Act. The Privacy Act make sure that any confidential data related to a person's health or wellbeing is kept confidential when it comes to stress control and overall well-being. It also means that with or without the permission of the individual, information on their stress levels, mental health, or any other aspect of their well-being cannot be disclosed. In addition to developing a safe environment for stress management and improving overall well-being this safety measure allows persons to find support and help without worry about their private information being exposed. 7. Explain the purpose of a code of ethics in relation to managing stress and wellbeing and list four principles that may be covered in a code of practice. Answer: It is a set of guidelines and standards that helps to perform and enhances the environment which is very important in managing stress and overall health. When the environment where people have important in well-being is main thing it is made possible by this .The code of practice are as follow: Confidentiality: making sure that information regarding an individual's anxiety level or health is kept private and not shared without permission. Supportive Communication: establishing open, respectful interaction will develop an environment where people have no difficulty expressing how they are feeling around stress or their overall well-being. Non-Discrimination: Encouraging equal opportunity for all individuals according to their stress levels, mental health, or overall state of wellbeing. Access to Resources: Making sure people have access to resources and services that can help them in managing their stress and increasing their overall well-being. 8. Explain the following debriefing techniques: a. Best practice interventions Using methods and techniques which have been established to be successful and efficient in similar situations is known as best practice interventions. b. Crisis intervention A technique termed as crisis intervention is used in order to provide people who were going through a crisis or trauma short-term and fast help. It is designed to emotionally stabilise the individual and help them in coping to the event's immediate effects. In debriefing, crisis intervention refers to meeting the immediate emotional and psychological needs of people who were affected by a major event. c. Structured debriefing Discussing and evaluating an important event in a systematic and organised way is known as structured debriefing in order to make sure that every important aspect of the event are handled, it usually refers to a predetermined set of guidelines or concerns. This methodology improves understanding of the situation, an evaluating what happened, and identifying the areas in need of further improvement. d. Internal and external referral sources Internal sources for referral are those who direct people in the direction of services or resources that are provided by the organisation, that include employee support programmes or counselling. On the other hand, other referral sources may help those who are approaching different professionals or organisations, which include mental health or social service organisations, to get support or assistance. Referrals from both internal and external sources are necessary to get the proper assistance for meeting one's needs after an important incident. 9. List three indicators that a person is experiencing significant issues and ways that you could respond. Isolation : Indicator: When someone isolates themselves as well as experiences being cut off from relationships with others. Response: Tell them about your worries, communicate with them and try to listen. Stress management gives effective coping and methods for reducing stress, that can be for important help for people experiencing work-related problems. It involves understanding the stresses related to working environments and placing techniques together for handling them more successfully. This may involve managing time well, making reasonable objectives, and using relaxing techniques. Stress management programmes promote a supportive environment by promoting a healthy work-life balance and open conversation about issues. Furthermore, offering tools like seminars or counselling services can help people manage job-related pressures and enhance their general well-being and resilience in the face of problems at work. 12. Consider the following case study: You work as a care assistant, supporting an aged care resident, they are continually making requests that you are their best friend and as a friend should provide them with food and drink that is prohibited in their health care plan. Explain how you would deal with the situation referring to the specific limitations of your work role, your responsibilities as a support worker and professional boundaries. Answer: It is very important to fulfill my responsibilities as a care assistant at the event and maintain professional limits. I would politely remind the aged care facility resident of their health care plan and how important it is to follow the rules in order to maintain their health. To be clear, even while it is my duty to adhere to the guidelines set forth by medical professionals, I also have a duty to provide care and support. I would be sensitive to their need for companionship, but I would also make it clear that my top priority is to keep them safe and well. I will suggest for engaging in extra activities with them and make them to follow their treatment plan in order to foster a caring and supportive environment without sacrificing their welfare. I will make them to realise of listening to medical advice should be followed and consideration.
