What are the most significant factors that contributed to the shift from classical management to management of the global integrated enterprise? Why are they significant? The goal of management was to increase production while making it more efficient. However, during periods in history like the Industrial Revolution, management’s mindset towards employees and their significance in the company changed. Unlike engineers who focused on mechanical efficiency, industrial psychologists researched and focused their efforts on human efficiency in the workplace, and their objectives were similar— optimizing employee satisfaction while reducing waste and inefficiency (Wren & Bedeian, 2020). As a result of that managerial cognitive shift, recognizing the value of incorporating the employee spurred the modern management process in today’s global integrated economy and world of business. Companies now place a strong emphasis on finding a variety of staff talent to increase the firm’s competitive edge and overall profit margin. Consequently, finding talent is a job in the present management process. Employers must find and select qualified individuals, invest in their development, monitor their performance, compensate them fairly, and aim to keep the best ones on staff (Stahl et al., 2012). Subsequently, incorporating the employee’s talents and values into the process of production was an essential practice which has continued for over a century.
