Pretend you are a manager of a justice agency. Identify five communications skills that you believe could be improved upon to enhance the communication of goals and objectives of the agency. The process of communication involves translating policies and procedures into daily and acceptable activities. As a police manager, you must utilize this strategy to motivate and discipline officers in order to reach your objectives (More et. al, 2012).In order to effectively communicate with officers and other management personnel, a police manager must have the necessary communication skills. These include: pitch and pace, active listening, body language, relevance, and eye contact (Flitter, 2019). Besides being able to speak at the right pace and pitch, other factors such as tone and volume are also taken into account in order to improve the effectiveness of a manager's communication. Having the necessary skills to actively listen to and ask open-ended questions is very important for a manager (Flitter, 2019). One of the most important factors that a manager must consider when it comes to improving the effectiveness of his or her communication is maintaining the right eye contact. This will allow the other person to see that he or she is sincere. Being able to share the right information with the right people is also very important for a successful communication. Body language can make or break a manager in any field. An effective manager or leader uses their body language to project their message and help their company achieve its goals (Flitter, 2019).
