2 Week 1: VA HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMNT VA HUMAN RESOURCE MANAMENT Veterans Affairs has lost a lot of human resources staff and faces large shortages of medical staff at its centers. Twelve of our priority recommendations are aimed at addressing VA's long-standing workforce problems, such as improving how it rates and awards employees and handles disciplinary actions. The Veterans Health Administration is facing key human capital challenges that hamper its ability to effectively serve veterans including skills gaps within medical centers’ HR offices and inadequate training for HR staff. Additionally, central HR offices have limited authority to oversee and hold medical centers accountable for delivering essential HR services, such as recruiting and training staff. IT has been recommended that VHA strengthen its central HR offices to ensure they can effectively oversee medical center HR staff. We also recommended that VHA improve staff performance management at all levels and better support employee engagement [ CITATION GAO16 \l 1033 ] . As we all know Human Resource Management is the strategic approach to nurturing and supporting employees and ensuring a positive workplace environment. Its functions vary across different businesses and industries, but typically include recruitment, compensation and benefits, training and development, and employee relations. The reason I have chosen my organization is because there is a lot of room for improvement, one of the main problems within the VA Human Resource department is lack of personnel. We have one of the largest turnovers of employees in the nation. One of the reasons are that people get good training, knowledge, and skill sets, then they take other positions that

For this reason, we are always seeing new faces in the same places which makes it hard to build any kind of continuity within the service. As an HRO you are constantly bringing on new people which results in you having to restrain new people to do the same jobs that you were looking to sustain your people in before they decided to move on to bigger and better positions. The proposed organizational behavior concepts I would say are. People, good structure, and external environment. Once the three are understood and how they work well with one another an organization such as min will be able to improve and work well as a team. In conclusion, as we all know for any organization to operate full and at capacity the HR department is where it normally starts. Just by ensuring employee satisfaction, staying up to date with societal and ethical models, and maintaining a healthy work culture, as well as a healthy work-life balance for employees helps make the wheels turn in the right direction.
