2 Module 8 Assignment Conflict resolution should begin by acknowledging that difficult situations exist and disagreements may occur at school, home, and work is essential as it demonstrates honesty and effective communication. This will help in acquainting oneself with the problem they are experiencing. Individuals should be allowed to express their feelings, including anger and frustrations, which leads to their acknowledgment and eventually finding ways for their management. While expressing feelings, remain controlled and do not be abusive. Defining the problem comes next (National Crime Prevention Council, 2016). Questions like the stated problem and its cause should be answered. The negative impact of the conflict and any disagreeing personality styles should also be identified. There should be a determination of the underlying needs. The primary aim of conflict resolution is not to pinpoint who is right and wrong. The sole purpose is to understand what all the conflicting parties feel comfortable living with. Therefore, needs should be prioritized over solutions. As a result, finding the needs requires evaluating and understanding the solutions proposed by each party. Determining the significance of the solutions becomes a need that should be addressed. The conflicting parties should determine their shared areas of agreement without considering any magnitude or significance. There should be an agreement that a problem exists and the procedure or strategy for finding a resolution. They should also agree on the possible worst fears and some little change which can give a brief experience of success. Finding solutions that respond to the needs should then be carried out. It should begin by generating various alternatives to solve the problem and determine the necessary actions that respond effectively to the problem (NCPC, 2016). There should be a follow-up to monitor actions to determine if the agreed-upon strategies are implemented and if there is more to be solved. If the
